THEY HAVE MUGGED US ALL OFF. Price protection 2014 that runs to err... may 2012 and it doesnt even say whether its capped of fixed.

On my figures this 2014 tariff (if still available) is 14% more than EDF V2 fix to Sept 12. So I could take a a 20 -28% hike fron 9/12 and still be no worse off.

EDF v2 with cashback is about the same as Eon SOL7 variable on my figures.

So all may not be lost.

Not only that FOL8 to this 2014 tariff is about 40% in one go which is a bit of a big pill to swallow.

So your saying go with the EDF fix to Sept 2012?!?! So confused with all this swapping to different provider! Have never done it before because EON has been so good!! :(

Don't forget that the above comments apply only to their own particular usage. Yours could be a lot different. You need to input your figures (actual kWh usage is preferable) into a comparison site, and see what it comes up with for yourself.

I can only give you my thoughts I am afraid. I don't know your circumstances, hopes or aspirations.

Don't get stressed of the switching it is only a game, one of the benefits of competition;) not.

In all reality the Eon 2014 tariff, that is in the latter part of this thread may have disappeared by tomorrow. Certainly the EDF v2 2012 is in my sights.

My overall feeling is that prices are only going one way and whilst you can fix for bit, to give your self some certainty in the short term, in the long run you will only delay the inevitable.:o

I think you'll all find that e.on will sort this mess out quite readily, without too much fuss, and very amicably.

Anyone who's been promised a particular tariff is likely to get it, on the strength of my past dealings with them. I've always found that they act very honourably when there's been a mistake, as there has here.

My only regret is that I wasn't offered the 2014 fix earlier. if I had been, I'd still be with e.on! :)

Yes just checked online and mine is about the same! It's all about do you want risk paying the hike in prices .....to fix or not to fix....that is the question! Just wish I could make my mind up! LOL

Mine comes up with nPower Go Fix 6 being slightly cheaper than EDF Fixed v2. So I've gone to nPower. I wanted to fix for around a year as I think we're going to see a few more price rises coming our way. In my view a variable deal is more risky than a fixed one, but that's just my own opinion. Eon have nothing to match the FOL8 so I've started the switch.

Another FixOnline 8 customer about to jump ship.

I think it's a good time with 3 weeks till the end of the contract date and most companies still not hiking their prices following SPower at the mo.

In the end I've gone for the cheapest from the comparisons which in my case is British Gas Websaver 12. Not been with them for a long while so no bad service to go off just yet.

Did it via quidco and confused.com so it's £24 rebate for that, and just got my "what happens now" e-mail.

I'm happy it states 5-7 weeks for the change of supply to happen so that takes me past the 1st July so no cancellation charge.

Overall if their estimated monthly payment is correct it is about £15 a month more than the current FixOnline 8 payment (I used exact usage figures from my annual review) so not too bad, although I have just had a nice £92 rebate from my over payments which I won't get this time around.

It's a shame there is nothing as good as the FixOnline 8 again, but I was fearing a lot worse.
