I think what soolin means is you can't have a second account if you've already been banned unless you get around it somehow ie by lying on the other account, or signing up in someone elses name both of which are against the rules, and if they link them together you'll have to say bye to your 'main' account.
  • Linking the accounts, could be as simple as using an old/different postal address.

I agree with you that talking to paypal and ebay is a waste of time. Paypal told ebay to close my account so I cannot buy on ebay as my account is down as no longer a registered user.

Recently a friend who I sent money to via paypal (at least 12 months ago) which had nothing to do with ebay has been told that they have been restricted to selling/listing a maximum of 16 items because they are associated with my account. They are not and live in a completely different part of the country and have a different name, but it seems there is nothing they can do either.

Did you recive your money after the 180 days?
The reason I am asking is something similar has recently happened to me, I had sold some items through paypal but not via ebay, PP have decided I am a high risk and closed my paypal account. I had £500 in it which I'd transferred out to my bank but PP reversed the payment. I can prove the items have been delivered yet I have no access to my money.
I wrote to PP, but replied with a condecending email and leter where basically they are not shifting.
In the meantime I've had an email from ebay requesting I pay my ebay fees as since my PP accounted is 'closed' ebay can't take their fees!
Life is a coin, you can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once.
Go as far as you can see, and when you get there you'll see further.
Take time but don't waste time

Luckily I had no money in paypal, but I did have £1.38 credit in ebay as they removed my listings and I had paid the fees so they credited me. They told me they would send the money to paypal, which obv I couldn't get but in the end they sent it to my bank account. I told them I would rather give it to charity than let them have it, which I did. Seems like I was lucky. From all my dealings with paypal, once they decide to limit/close your account there is nothing you can do and they will not tell you the exact reason and it is a done deal. They never open it again from what I have gathered reading around. Paypal don't seem to be accountable to anyone.
Did your buyer receive a refund from paypal or are paypal just keeping your £500? It's worth checking. I would think it is fraud if paypal keep your money for good, but as I know too well, not a lot that you can do unless someone knows otherwise. I know from reading the paypal fb pages some americans are and have taken them to court.
Be thankful for what you have because it could all be taken away tomorrow.;)
