Paypal Account closed as deemed too high risk

Hi Blue, hi Aesop, :hello:
Blue, I'm shocked to hear of you problems with PayPal . I must admit, I've not bought or sold much on Ebay for months. I didn't sell much anyway, but they restricted DD's account indefinately when her P&P dsr's fell to 4.6 (even though she had 5's and 1 x 4.9 for everything else) and 100% feedback! After that I didn't want to risk my account and then just got bored with eBay (bit like dtd).
Aesop, I've been on eBid for just over 3 years (I think it started 2003/4). I haven't sold much but it's a nice surprise when I do. I just put things on and leave them and every now and then I get an email to say an item's sold, It doesn't have anything like the volume of eBay, but then again it doesn't have anything like the hassel.
It's a bit like eBay when it first started, friendly and fun - but don't expect to make a fortune0 -

I like your attitude, you sound like the sort of person who sees the glass half full, instead of moaning about something, you try something different, and even if it's not the most effective selling place you can see the positive side0 -

No other site as the traffic Ebay as. QXL did ok - but Ebay sqeezed them out and then hiked their fees.
Maybe Google should set one up - they can generate the traffic via their own search engine and use google checkout.:D0 -
Use ebid Blue. Don't know too much about it, it is kinda new,but must be better than fleabay and paypal.
I think the OP likes to sell things though, and as ebid has only about 3 buyers he will just be wasting his time. Also most sellers find that they get no interest anyway unless they use paypal, so I don't think it is even worth bothering with.
Also, ebid in the UK has been going longer than ebay.uk and many of us, myself included have lost money by being stupid enough to pay for lifetime membership , run shops and never sell a thing. I think I've sold less than 12 items in 10 years.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. OP, send a lovely email to Watchdog, they might do something about it or try and get a better reason than "we think in the future your account might be negative".0

Always knew you were a wrong en
Why does nothing this company do ever surprise me. I knew you would lose your appeal - they don't listen to anyone.
As you know, paypal cherry picked their BEST customers to trial the access card - yet just weeks later your a risk.
A seller i bought from last week had all his sales cancelled - Ebay said he was manipulating feedback by selling low cost items. Yet they encourage sellers to start at 99p. He had 100% feedback of over 100 and DSR's of 4.9/5.0. Ebay did not like this. Nuts.
They won't tell him what he did wrong, so he cannot put it right - so he has to leave Ebay OR increase his prices. He didn't do what some do and have a low price and high postage - all his items had free postage. He's gutted. Thankfully - he still sent my item, although all record of the sale disappeared from my items won on Ebay.
I hope this company gets whats coming to it - someone please set up a rival. I heard your fave Supermarket was thinking about it - wouldn't that be great - even more CC points :rotfl:
well surely you have worked out that both ebay and paypal are the same company which are above any law (or they think they are).
ebay also have postage capped on a lot of their listings, so that you need to increase your item to cover the difference therefore giving them a higher FVF
Also paypal actively work with fraudsters through their policies as a fraudster can set up a paypal account and then list downloadable items which they dont have so a buyer will pay get nothing and as its intangle paypal wont even look at the claim.
ask yourself why paypal is no longer registered with the FSA0 -

It was as a result of watchdog that seller feedback got banned - as a few buyers complained of retaliatary feedback.

Thats why they left the UK - to avoid legislation. So far its worked, as no-one seems willing to take them on.
As for FVF's - i've heared they are now charging them on postage in the USA - so if true it could soon be over here.0 -

I'd be very surprised if ebay took any notice of what UK Watchdog, or other TV programs say, and make changes on a global level as a result... but it may have been part of a bigger picture of complaints everywhere, maybe legal challenges?

Banks and financial institutions don't even have to give a reason to close an account, they can deem any user as unsuitable at a whim. Just go and browse the banking forum, it happens all the time.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
