Sounds like an amazing weekend. So pleased for you :)

  • morning, I think I have caught Hypno's sleeping (or lack of!) bug!! I was shattered last night but got into bed and was wide awake as soon as my head hit the pillow! then I woke up at 6.09 (alarm was set for 6.10!), said alarm went off and I was wide awake so didn't hit snooze. Sleep has been way off for the last week....I also have a very nervous tummy and I have no idea why....

I was feeling rather trim this morning in the shower, so got the tape measure out and was very pleasantly surprised. I got on the scales and it was even better news! I thought a lot about a post on LittleBoots's diary a while ago, and have given up logging on MFP and dieting and just tried to be sensible. I also watched a couple of Gok repeats on E4 and am being a bit more accepting of myself.

Combined with a lot of recent nervous energy (esp over the weekend) and no alcohol for a whole week(apart from a couple of tiny sips of Guinness on Saturday night! :D), I think I am heading in the right direction.

So now I am going to try and keep it going until my holiday in 3 1/2 weeks which will have a focus on looking after yourself and keeping things balanced (if you want to, although they won't stop you eating like a rugby player and drinking like a fish if you so desire :D) - and with any luck I will come back floating around target weight and best of all, feeling good and with some better direction. I should then fit in the wedding dress that wasn't and I had promised myself a photo shoot in it with my photographer friend. Hopefully a harp can feature in there somewhere too!

Money is tight but under control. I am going to have to be really crafty if I am going to be able to see new chap as much as I think both of us want to, without breaking the bank. Friendships have been renewed as a result of Sunday, have had a couple of invitations I want to take up, plus I need to build in some trips up north to see my granny as I haven't seen her in months.

Something is going to have to give!

Counselling was brilliant last night :j My counsellor came to my concert so we had lots to talk about to do with that and all the thoughts and emotions involved.

    Busy day ahead at work....

Sounds like a good weekend. I hope the success of the concert has given you lots of confidence and encouragement. Good news, too, on potential new friend - I hope it leads where you want it to (within budget!). You've a lot going on, so it's no wonder you are a little out of sorts with tummy and sleep - it'll pass if you carry on being sensible about diet and alcohol. Let us know how things progress. Your holiday sounds just what the doctor ordered.

I'd love to be a good example - instead, I am a horrible warning.
  • it's a real wake up call for me, I have the constitution of a particularly sturdy ox, and while a few years ago, sleep and stomach were the last things to go, sleep is often disrupted these days, but I very rarely lose my appetite. So i really need to pay attention to what my body is telling me. In the mean time if another couple of pounds drop off, I will be almost at target weight and back into another pair of jeans :rotfl: every cloud etc!

I have a minor lie in tomorrow as I have a work from home day. (Potential) New man has just owned up it's his birthday tomorrow - was making tentative plans to see him as the timing is so rubbish for both of us this week, but will definitely make the effort now :)

I met my new harp pupil tonight, he is a star! bonkers but brilliant, just my kind of chap! I jokingly offered him a sticker at the end of his lesson but as he is more like 48 than 8 years old, he politely declined :rotfl:

I have the weekend from hell rapidly approaching.... but things quieten down next week and plans are being made with the (potential) new man already as he will be off call. It's exciting and I am loving the rollercoaster of it all, but as LittleBoots said a while ago, where on earth am I going to put him if things take off?!!!

    that was a coffee/keyboard moment! :rotfl: :D

So. a slow morning on the work front, but am getting into the swing of things.

had a great night's sleep last night, and woke just before the alarm this morning, AND felt refreshed! So I did some of Darcy's DVD and I am really feeling the benefits of this, I am definitely getting more out of the stretches etc. My core muscles are getting stronger, and while I haven't even unwrapped the harp since Sunday, I hope this will set me in good stead for whatever I do with it next.

Meanwhile, I heard about this on the radio and it lifted my spirits! not in any man hating way whatsoever, it just sounded like an incredibly creative solution to a problem and also sounds like everyone enjoyed themselves! :T

  • Ohhhh wow what a great weekend!!! Happy to hear your man news :D
I remember a while back chatting to my fellow single pal about relationships etc. I was saying that I wasnt too bothered just now about having a partner as I wanted to get a life for myself, find my own things/own way when someone comes along he will just have to fit in. Before it was always that the guy was my life...
Enough of that for now though...your gig sounds amazing, lovely to picture all those closest to you around, and for a happy occasion too :)

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Actually...in my case...
  • It was Halloween last year for me! Well...it was!

Saw him last night and it resulted in a sleepover :D he is lovely and I think he could be a keeper (my aunt's lovely old-fashioned word which i adore!).

He is talking long term stuff already :) but not in such a way that it seems freaky or scary. but I am hanging back for now just in case :)

He seems very switched on about what he wants out of life, and I think he's the kind of guy that if I got too clingy, he would get bored and run a mile. So far I feel like I can breathe around him, I don't need to worry about anything, just feels really good being with him. Similar to you LB, in the past I have always tended to put myself at the bottom of the list and we know where that leads!

I am hungover today, but had an early morning dash round the M25 on the bike which was more fun than it should have been :j and then felt lousy when I got off the bike :rotfl: I haven't been out drinking on a school night in years! Didn't have loads but enjoyed a lovely couple of pints and a few too many GnTs  but had lined my stomach first with a really decent burger and nice chips from an Irish bar.

Money wise, I had the damp surveyor round today. Some brilliant news in that things aren't as bad as I had feared. The solution to the bit I suspected was the worst is quite drastic, but only one bit needs treating, the rest I can do myself by clearing some soil and a gutter etc. I had set aside a grand for it and that is pretty much what it will cost :) plus all guaranteed etc so should I need to sell up, it's all sorted.

The plumber came yesterday and has passed my creaky old oil-fired boiler as fit for purpose (miraculously) plus he took the nasty rusty old radiator off the wall in the downstairs loo so I can get stuck into tarting this up. Bless him he didn't even charge me for doing the radiator. He's been coming for years ever since we got this house, and he is a star :)

So order of works will be:
    1. Floorboards/joists replaced where the wet rot is
    2. Plumber round again to put thermostatic valves on upstairs radiators and take downstairs ones off to be replaced.
    3. Existing stairs out and new ones to be fitted
    4. Windows replaced with nice new ones
    5. Electrician round to re-wire and add sockets
    6. Plasterer round to re-do plaster in damp area and skim whole of downstairs
    7. Decorate whole of downstairs
    8. Get flooring down
I can't wait til it's all finished!! Will have a proper housewarming then as it will look really stunning and really me :j
