Glad to hear the glums are passing - you've got lots of good things going on at the moment. A quiet night with some lovely food sounds great :)

  • Thanks everyone! had a great day at work today, lots of presents and a card and a big balloon :D they do birthdays really well at my work, ever since my first year when I had only been there about six weeks :j

I had a cupcake making kit (bit cheesy but I didn't have a piping bag and the stand it came with is quite nice!) - the guy I work with the most admitted it was only becuase they didn't have Hendricks gin in Costco :rotfl:

and I had a MASSIVE tin of Licorice Allsorts - I dont' remember them knowing I liked them but I love em so was well chuffed :D

and we had pizza delivered for something else that was going on elsewhere in the building :D so we got out of the big scary meeting to find the other folks in our office had saved us some :T I love my workmates!! :j

Our presentation went well, it was all very good humoured although quite challenging at times. So we have successfully raised our profile and I did 2 mathsy 'concentrate' bits which went down really well :D

after that, we were a bit giddy so went and played in work mate's potential new company car which he is test driving for a couple of days.

This is shamelessly materialistic, but I REALLY LOVE cars and bikes (well, you knew about the bikes) and just sitting in a really beautiful almost brand new car that I regularly lust over made me hope for better times when I can have one :( I nearly licked the keyring the yearning was that bad!!

I'm not quite sure where flashy motors fit in with the life of a penniless musician.... :rotfl: but it was nice to be reminded that it is a genuine emotional reaction and therefore is important in the new grand scheme of things!

More teaching is coming my way and I really have to make the decision as to whether I really want to do it. I think I do, especially now it looks like there is enough to cover if I drop a day's work from my full time job. But I have to be really sure if I am to approach my boss about it all....hmmmm.

Financial dallyings are still going on, shifting stuff around. I had a nice email from the bank saying my bonus ISA rate will continue a little longer which is good. So I have moved some money into that which will sit there until it's needed to pay for big housey bits.

I have arranged a damp survey for the house, and am going to ring the electrician and some joiners tomorrow, and pop to the window shop too to double check prices and book them. If my sparky is going to come, means i will need to decide where I want my sockets/lights etc which means i have to sort out room layouts which is very exciting :D but scary too. It all needs doing regardless of whether I stay or sell up, and it's so nice to know the money is there ready :)

Practice is going well for the concert and I am starting to feel good nerves rather than just plain terror :rotfl: Got another lesson tomorrow and my teacher worked hard with me on some memorisation stuff which has really helped.

I did a Pilates DVD yesterday, it was good but not long enough on arms/shoulders for me so I will look for another one to try as well :)

    PS what a FAB CAKE!!!!
  • I have a rare working from home Friday today - absolute bliss :D

forced myself out of bed at a sensible time and I am feeling alert and ready to go. Thought I only had enough milk for one coffee but measured it out :rotfl: and have enough for two so I don't need to pop out after all :D

I am going to have left over birthday pizza for breakfast and then left over birthday bacon for brunch butties later.

Hopefully the 'on fire' feeling will last a bit longer (not literally ) and I can have a productive day. Pooter will go off at 5 and then I am off for a harp lesson then fish and chips at my mum's. Not a memorable week on the healthy eating front but I made a beautiful bean, chorizo and celery salad last night which offsets it somewhat :rotfl:

Bank account is under control but need to make a stern list before I hit Bluewater tomorrow. Handbag and kettle are required, I have enough to get a couple of other nice little bits but MUST stay in control

good luck to Souk for later :j x

I'm glad you had a good birthday in the end, lionheartedgirl. I hope you can think through the teaching/work balance. This kind of decision is incredibly hard, isn't it? Whichever way you decide, it is excellent for your confidence that you are getting people knocking at your door, so to speak. Have fun at Bluewater (maybe being just a little bit out of control won't hurt).
