well, someone was listening to me yesterday - much as I wanted to do the rehearsal with the others, I desperately needed a night in to myself. Sure enough, 4pm I got a text asking if we could rearrange, I could have cried with relief!
So I cooked a nice healthy tea and then got down to some practice before I got too tired. Despite not having done much in the last week, I am much happier with where all my pieces are than I thought I would be. I just need to stay really, really focussed and keep the concert as the number one priority over the remaining 18 days.....yikes
Ah, the first of the month. So many resolutions and new starts on here, it's very inspirational!
My aims for September are fairly simple. Stay in control, look after myself so I can really do my absolute best for the concert.
Control covers so many areas as dirtyepic has already mentioned - food, exercise, housework, work being just some of them.
I am still incredibly tired, and my counsellor wondered if I was anaemic. It's possible, so I am going to make an extra effort to eat really well this month in terms of lots of veggies etc.
I am putting my new bedding on tonight, it's all hanging on the line now and looks lovely.
It's my birthday next week and I am feeling a bit down about it. Nice dinner etc will help, but I need to cook up a plan for what to do.
Payday was yesterday so I need to go through all the bills etc and work out envelopes/pots. I'll do this tonight with a nice T no G....I know how to live hey :rotfl:0 -
Sound like good aims to me, looking after yourself

Apparently thyme is a really good source of iron.. I learnt that from watching QI :rotfl:Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Those shoes are something else, very fabulous indeed

Glad you got a quiet evening, so much going on with you I love reading it all0 -
Hey LHG, a birthday and you're not celebrating? That's not allowed! Seriously hon is it the whole 'Im not where I thought Id be at this age stuff?' Well, okay none of us are but all you can do is enjoy what you DO have. There's so many positives in here and SOOOO many things you wouldnt have done as part of a couple....so get those heels on and enjoy! X'The road to a friends house is never long'0

thanks squizz, I had apple and thyme cordial tonight, hope that counts! :rotfl:
Souk, the "not where I expected to be" thing is a good issue at the moment - because I never thought I would still be here in some ways, and also that I can't believe some of the amazing things that have happened in the last few months.
The birthday thing is not having anyone close to really celebrate with here on the day, be they friends or family. Mum goes back to work that day, and there still aren't any people locally I would feel comfy to say I'm feeling a bit lonely can we arrange to meet up. It's a work from home day, and I was almost tempted to go into work  so I would see people. Which is a bit of a sad realisation! Definitely still some way to go on the social front.
I am going to see how I feel with musical things and may say !!!! it and take my harp to the pub as it will be open mic night. I'm a bit worried I will crumble in a busy pub though
I watched SATC on Saturday and felt so sad that those I thought were my closest friends before the wedding, just are not. I don't mean to sound arsey or sorry for myself, but I send cards and presents, I drive miles to keep in touch and it doesn't come back (with the exception of my friend who came with me for the anniversary). So I'm in the middle of the turnaround phase and making new friends, my birthday has just come at the wrong time :rotfl: But it is a reminder of how much this all hurts and how much I still need to do to fix it.
I am planning to go shopping with my mum the weekend after (will be window shopping after how much I spent on Sunday ) and have a gathering with people who come to the concert afterwards in the pub. I will be able to celebrate then, and really enjoy myself as the concert will be over with and will hopefully go well so I will be on a high from that.
I've done Christmases and birthdays on my own fine in the past, just this year it's hit a nerve  ah well. A plan will come together somehow
Weather looks good tomorrow so I will go to work on the bike. Saw mechanic briefly across the road as I was parking on my drive last night and got a smile and a wave
but then I always get that :rotfl: fingers crossed!
Best go make the bed and get in it! :j night all x0 -
afternoon,
well, not long after I got in bed last night, someone again seems to be watching out for me, because I got a text from my singer friend with another possible gig the weekend after my concert. It would need lots of time to work on things, but I have said yes.
She suggested a rehearsal next Wednesday - and I have snapped her hand off, explaining the birthday situation :j
This gig has come through the people that we didn't get the big gig through a couple of weeks ago (if that makes sense!) - still only a possibility but sounds more promising. So if all goes well, we will possibly be in with a shout of more.
I have ridden into work today on my bike, it was wonderful. Life is short and precious, and I must have been one of the happiest commuters on the A12 this morning!0 -

All sounding very good! Great news about the gig - well done you for saying yes. You are certainly being led in a certain direction, one way or the other."Green pastures are before me,
Which yet I have not seen;"
I'd love to be a good example - instead, I am a horrible warning.0 -
thanks all.
tried to practice this evening after the compulsory veg during Corrie, but am just far too tired so am going to try again in the morning when I have a bit more energy - my alert time is first thing so best to hang on til then.
I have 2 small but long overdue targets this weekend
1) send off my claim for tax relief on accountancy subs I have paid over the last few years - this has been put off for ages, and all I need to do is fill in a form !!!!!!! :rotfl:
2) take all my old bathroom bits to the tip - I have had a delivery of heating oil while the prices are a bit more reasonable, and the thought of the poor delivery driver fighting his way through my garden gate to be confronted with an old sink (and worse!) stacked up by the garage has shamed me into action
I have a wedding tomorrow but it's a late one and very local, so should be OK.
Sunday morning I am doing some practice with my mum and then I have a harp lesson in the afternoon. My fingers don't normally hurt but they are a bit tender at the mo and are only going to get worse! :rotfl:
I will be glad when the concert is over and done with, I'm enjoying being so focussed on everything but it is tiring! :rotfl: The musical focus seems to be trickling over into other areas, and I am gradually tackling the clutter helped by a couple of excellent blogs I found.
Off to bed in a bit, have a good weekend x0
