Taxi, I'm so glad she's made a decision that she's happy with...

If she raises baby anything like you've raised her, it will be another credit to your family....

I'm so glad she's made her mind up. :) Just be sure to try to keep her from her BF as much as you can. Obviously don't say "you can't see him" But if he starts giving her greif then she could develop some problems in the pregnancy.

Oh and get some folic acid in her ;)

The last conversation she had with the bf was late on last night when she told him that she had made her FINAL decsion and that she was going to continue with the pregnancy with the full support of her family.

She says that he asked her "and who made this decision, was it YOU or was it you're FAMILY" To which she told him that the decsion was made 100% by her but was also 100% supported by her family..

He then told her that he needed time to think and that he would be intouch. At this point he still has not been in touch.

My Daughter is bright , happy , cheerful and very excited today. A complete turnaround from the past few days and this just proves to me that she is happy and content with her decision.

I have to admit that I laughed when I read your advice re the folic acid...seems my Daughter is one step ahead of us as first thing this morning she made a big fuss at the breakfast table of saying "oh..hold on...I forgot" at which point she charged out of the kitchen...up the stairs and then appeared back with a little bottle of tablets "I almost forgot to take my folic acid!" she exclaimed:rotfl:

What a wise cookie she is :D;)

I am a little embarresed to be asking this question :o (thank you Mrs Taxi for making me do it!) :p

As it is 13 years since we had out last "baby" we are a little out of the swing of things with how it works now days when you are having a baby.

With ours , Mrs Taxi says that she went to a "booking in" appointment in the hospital where she planned to have the baby and at this appointment - which lasted about an hour- she was weighed , bp taken , family medical history discussed etc and then she had only 2 scans for the rest of her pregnancy which she THINKS were around the 20 week and 35 week marks. In between those times she just visited her family GP if she had any concerns.

Is this still the basics of it?

Im calling on all you ladies who are currently pregnant or who have recently had babies to up-date the memory of us old timers :rotfl:

I'm booked to see a surgery midwife in two weeks for a scan, then I think the next is at 20 weeks. The best thing to do would be to contact the doc again and ask- though you might have to push.
Mine weren't terribly interested, and I had to push for info of any sort....
I'm more than happy to pass along details from what I get told, your daughter's similarly far along as I am? 7-9 weeks?
From what you've said above though- yes, it is pretty much the basics of it. Differs slightly depending on your doc though.

    Taxi and family- Happy Easter!

My sil had a baby a few years ago. We are in the UK so things may be a bit different here. Around 8 weeks she went to her gp surgery and they arranged a booking in appointment with the midwife. At 12 weeks she had her first scan. They took bloods around 14 weeks and did lots of tests. She then had her final nhs scan at 20 weeks.

She did have the most incredible 3d scan done privately though at around 30 weeks pregnant. It was my birthday and we met in London. She said she had a surprise for me. We went along to this clinic in Harley Street and she said Aunty Amy you are about to meet your nephew. What I saw next blew me away. There was my little nephew-to-be on a screen and we could see his face as clear as the day when he was born, little arms, legs, hands, fingers. My sil got a dvd of it all as well and I have a copy now.

Sil saw her midwife I think about every 4 weeks at first. When she was around 30 weeks I think she saw her every 2 weeks. Her baby was 3 days late in the end, perfectly healthy and beautiful.

Hope all goes smoothly for your daughter. Congrats grandad I am so pleased for you all. How lovely that the decision your daughter will next make is choosing a name for her little one.

Thank you Lirin. Our surgery is closed now until next Wednesday so we cannot get Daughter booked in to see the GP until at least thursday. By this time she will be 8weeks 1 day .

Looks like she will not get an appointment at the hospital until she is 11 weeks or so .Hopefully this will be ok. My wife was alsways a bit quicker to "book in" thatn this and usually had her first appointment at the hospital at around 7/8 weeks.

Hopefully this wont cause any kind of problem.

FYI I live in NI too and the way "the system" has worked for me was:
made an appointment with community midwife in local GP practice. I did this around 8 weeks pregnant. GP actually doesn't seem to have a whole lot to do with pregnancy, unless you are unwell. community midwife will arrange for "booking appointment" at the hospital which you decide you want to have your baby at (whcih can be any hospital, not necessarily the closest one) for me took place at the same time as the first scan which was at 12 weeks. Then I had an appointment with community midwife at 18 weeks, then the "big scan" at the hospital at 20 weeks. After that i'm not sure as that's the point at which i'm at now! but first port of call is local health centre community midwife. good luck!

Thank you for this useful info.

:D what do you mean the NEXT decision will be the name of the baby? Again , this has ALREADY been done ! My Daughter isnt holding back is she ? Once the decision is made it's full steam ahead! If she has a son it is going to be Jack and for a Daughter it is Madison. If she is anything like us when we were expecting though these names will change a million times before the birth.

Her and her Mum are looking at pushchairs in the Argos :rotfl:now that really IS a little to soon :D
