Hi I'm glad you got your money back. Lloyds are a nightmare. Did you claim for interest too? What about the interest they charged you? It amounts to a lot of money but I'm not sure I can claim back for o/draft interest and service charges. Is that right? Thanks

Please read this thread regarding what charges you can claim for. You can't claim for interest charged.

    Hi

I want to know if i can claim back the interest charges too for being overdrawn or is it just the actual charge itself for being overdrawn?

    Thanks in advance.

  • hi,

I am about to start the ball rolling with SH Abbey for reclaiming bank charges, the 1st letter askes for charges related to direct debits, standing orders and overdraft charges.....but can i also claim for charges made for clearing debit card payments whilst overdrawn, as these are £30 per time?

any help or advice would be gratefully recieved,

    ttfn

  • Check out the link above for a list of charges that can be claimed :)
  • ok, so i know what i can and can't claim for, but why?

i appreciate that charges such as interest on overdrafts are fair game, but what about cash withdrawals abroad? it cost me over £70 in charges to withdraw cash whilst i was in se asia. how is £10 per transaction justifiable? and are charges for withdrawing cash from other banks' atms nothing other than disloyalty 'penalties?'

Hope the OP doesn't mind but here is the definitive answer to my question for anyone else:

Thanks to Rex_Mundi for the excerpt from his post below:

List Of Charges We Can Reclaim
The following is a list of Bank charges that we can and cannot claim for. Different banks may have different names for the same type of charge, if you are unsure about a charge, just ask in the board. If anyone has different charges to add, please PM myself or Edinburghlass so we can add them.

    CAN BE CLAIMED

    Account misuse fee
    Cheque return fee
    Card misuse fee
    Unarranged borrowing fee
    Unauthorised overdraft fee
    Unpaid DD fee
    Unpaid cheque fee
    Unpaid standing order fee
Late payment fee (credit cards, store cards, catalogues etc)
    Exceeding Authorised Overdraft Limit
    Exceeding Unauthorised Overdraft Limit
    Direct Debit/Standing Order/Cheque returned fee
    Irregular fee

    CANNOT BE CLAIMED

    Cash Machine Withdrawl Fees
    Account Service Charges
    Service Fee / Annual Fee
Charges related to foreign currency transactions and conversions.
Monthly account fees on certain type of accounts.
Crumbs, I haven't claimed for half of that. I only added up my referral fees and fees that i felt was slipped in. i didn't claim for exceeding authorised o/d and unauthorised o/d and the others relating to the overdraft. I never was much good at maths. Blast.
