  • List in this thread regarding what charges can be claimed but if you are uncertain what your bank calls various charges please phone them and ask as different banks use different phrases.

  • hi there - got my statements through today and it's looking like HSBC owe me about £650! i have looked through all of this thread but still can't seem to find out whether i can claim for a charge that comes up as 'temp. limit fee'. this is three lots of £20 for when i have called hsbc to ask for a temporary overdraft extension to pay rent. what do you reckon? xx
  • ooh - and found another weird one - DR: Advised: £10.00? it's not on the list!

  • I have taken the first step in this process and got a list from Lloyds TSB of the charges applied to my account over the last 6 years. These seem to fall into 3 categories:

Penalty Charges (e.g. unpaid S/o or D/D, 'overdraft excess fee')
Account Charges (presumably applied monthly when the account has gone into the red - generally £10 per month)
    Overdraft Interest

I have assumed that it is reasonable to claim the penalty charges, and unreasonable to claim the overdraft interest. But what about the account charges?

Has anyone gone down this path with Lloyds TSB who is able to advise?

  • Paid Referral Fee is where they have not paid something out (i.e DD/SO).

The £10 charge which was advised is probably for the statements.

  • hi guys,

just been browsing through the section on bank charges (which ive had many of in my time!) and was wondering that when you try to reclaim the charges from the bank do you have to list the dates when you were charged over the years or will they work out the ammount owed?

    cheers:beer:
  • All charges have to be listed, dated and what they are for as this will form part of your defence if you take the bank to court.

HERE is an example of how I list the charges when I write to the bank (using Word). Just total up the years at the end.
