What charges? (merged threads)

Hi,
I have read a few threads about claiming back bank charges, can anyone give me any info on this or point me in the right direction and if anyone was successful against Nationwide and Lloyds TSB.
What charges can you claim back for or is it all charges?
Also does anyone have standard letters to send to the bank and also to companies offering them a nominal payment each month to sort out a debt.
Many thanks

What charges you can claim can be found in this thread, read Martin's article and the letters for the banks can be found in this bar.

I have started the process by calling the telephone banking and for £5 they will send me my statements within a few weeks.
When I look at the statements I have now I can see that on one occasion for example I went overdrawn less than £20 for a matter of less than a day. I was charged the standard over draft fee of £35 but in addition at the end of the month they took an additional £28 for going over draft plus unauthorized overdraft interest. Should I itemizing each individual charge including the interest? Thanks.
What a scam. You know I swear sometimes they process a POS sale through your account and then back date it a day and justify it by saying it didn't happen but if it did you you used the card on that day anyways.0 -
Itemise each charge with the date and what the charge is but you can't claim the interest charged for the overdraft.0

New here so not sure if this questions been asked before (Or if I'm posting in the right place) I have found a thread saying I can claim back charges for unpaid DD's but what circumstances is this for?
For example if I had £10 in my account and the bank doesn't pay a DD for £12is this the computerised system simply not letting me go overdrawn.
The problem then is I get charged more than if it had paid it.
The charge for an unpaid DD is £39
The charge for an unauthorised overdraft is £28
Is there a set amount of money that your account needs to be 'short' to determine which charge they apply, sometimes they allow the DD then charge for going overdrawn.
Any help would be appreciated0 -
You can claim back the charges the bank took for unpaid DD and for unauthorised overdraft.
Each bank will have their own criteria for when they apply their charges.0 -
I am reclaiming back money from Royal Bank of Scotland, it is a graduate a/c and I have regularly paid 10 pounds a month. I'm not sure whether its a charge or fee for the overdraft, plus they have taken interest as well, which I would have thought was for the overdraft. Any advice? Should I include it or leave it out? Thanks in advance.I wished the buck stopped here as I could use a few!0
