hi:beer: ,
I know it might sound a bit stupid but i am not sur about this. Just phoned hsbc and abbey, for my statements. I just looked into the one that i have a nd would like to know if you claim the charges that you occured when you go into your authorised overdraw or the charges that you occured when you go over your authorised overdraw?
thanx in advance for your help0 -
If you use your authorised overdraft, you have no charges. You pay interest, of course, but you cannot claim that back.cassey wrote:would like to know if you claim the charges that you occured when you go into your authorised overdraw or the charges that you occured when you go over your authorised overdraw?
It only concerns those (punitive) charges when you have exceeded your overdraft limit, be it referral charges, bounced DDs, whatever;
usually in the £ 25.00 - 30.00 range.0 -
thank you for your reply,
Sorry I didn't get it
because I never occured these charges before. Only once with hsbc and i complained  and to my surprise they put the money back into my account straight away:j . But my OH had an account with the cooperative bank which is now closed because they use to charge him for anything. Is it possible for him to claim the charges now even though it's been closed about 5yrs ago?

We are in the process of working out our bank charges and interest to claim back from the bank. On this list that the bank has sent me, they are listing amount as follows:
Commission Commission Refund Debit Interest Fees Fees Refund
Totals are
£1374.95 £100.00 £247.75 £3507.50 £77.50
Does anybody know if I can claim for the Commission and Debit Interest as well as the Fees?

Wow this is a great thread thanks guys and gals
Ive just worked mine out to be £150 over the last 4 years, so my first letter is ready to post to Lloyds in the morning.
As I have online banking, I downloaded the statements and copied the charges over, has anyone else done this to any degree of success? Surely they have access to my statements the same as I do, and it seemed such a waste to print out all that paper. Ah well if not, Im sure they'll get back to me and I can request the specific statements I need, as the hardest bit was trawling thro them all to i/d charges
What about the interest on the top, anyone sucessfully claim that? I must admit, I didnt add it... as it isnt a huge amount, but thought it might give me some bargaining power if they get stroppy... if it does go to court, then I understand it gets added automatically anyway?
Hmm, will let you know how I get on

Hello
Went through a 6 years of statements of my old RBS account, was surprised to see they owe me just over £250! Will claim very shortly.
Yesterday I went through my girlfriends statements. She paid £10 to Natwest to obtain statements going back 6 years. Now I understand what the charges relate to on my RBS account, but I've never had a Natwest account.
So I have a few questions.
We start in November 2000 and she was paying £6 a month in account maintenance charges.
Above and beyond the £6 charge, we have these charges when she goes over her agreed overdraft of £750:
UNARRGD BORROW FEE - £14 - I think these are letters to say she is overdrawn. Always at the end of the month on the same day (but separate transaction) as the £6 monthly account fee.
PAID REFERRAL FEE - £25 - I think these are charges to honour direct debit payments. Appear at any time in the month as a transaction on it's own.
Later on in November 2001 and May 2002 we have these:
ARRANGEMENT FEE - £30
I'm not sure what those are. The statement gives me no clues.
Now from March 2003 onwards, those £14 "UNARRGD BORROW FEE" charges are now "hidden" in the monthly account charge. So the monthly maintenance charge is now £20 on some months instead of £6. RBS did this on my account as well. Nice try.
From August 2003 onwards, this "UNARRGD BORROW FEE" has now increased to £20 (months where account charge is not £6 are now £26).
From October 2005 onwards, we have a few "UNPAID ITEM(S)" transactions at £38 each and a direct debit is listed (company and amount). I assume these are when the bank will not honour payments and "bounce" them.
From October 2005 onwards as well, we have a few "CARD MISUSE" transactions. Again they state clearly which company the card was used to purchase from and the amount. Once example - the bank allowed a debit card payment of £15.74 to go through at an online site - she went past her agreed borrowing level and the bank honoured the payment but issued a £35 charge!!!
We also have increases in the £6 monthly account fee:
£9 from September 2003
£10 from August 2005
£12 from July 2007
Those "UNARRGD BORROW FEE" charges which were merged into the monthly fee from March 2003 have increased:
£20 from August 2003
£28 from December 2004
After that long winded post, my questions are:
1) What is "UNARRGD BORROW FEE" (merged into monthly fee from March 2003 onwards)
2) What is "PAID REFERRAL FEE"?
3) What is "ARRANGEMENT FEE"?
4) My girlfriend never signed anything to say the terms and conditions (and fees) for her account were to increase. Can I claim back the increases in monthly account fees from the £6 a month she was charged when she opened the account?
Many thanks0
