I am sorry if this question has been asked and a response has been given, however I cant find anything.

I wrote to LLoydsTSB using Martins template letter for all bank charges. I now have a summerised list from them from when I closed the account (as advised)
The list just details supposed charges, which I am finding difficult to understand can someone explain these to me.

    I have
Unpaid DD charge ranges from £35 to £350 and type is CHG(Is this the value of the DD taken out of my account) doesnt appear to relate to an actual DD or is this a charge levied to me as I had insufficient funds for the DD to comeout?

Unpaid S/O £35 and type CHG
Unpaid personnel loan £25, type CHG
Overdraft Interest usually £1 or so, type CHG
O/Draft Excess Fee which varies from £25 to £30, type CHG

The rest is Account Charge of £10 type FEE - this I assume is the agreed
charge for the Classic Gold account I had and cannot claim on this?

I would be really grateful is someone could let me know as soon as possible as I need to tally these figures together so i can post my claim to them.
  • unsure about the personal loan charge but you can definately claim:
    unpaid standing order charges,
    returned direct debit charges and
    overdraft excess fees.
you cant claim overdraft interest, although we are paying around £20 a month in interest and thats only because they keep extending our overdraft to cover their charges, making more money for themselves. grrrr
there is a comprehensive list somewhere on the site but as usual i cant remember where it is because theres so much (very useful) stuff to sift through.

    Hi,
When we are talking about reclaiming bank charges my bank calls them overdraft fees which I sometimes have to agree to otherwise they want their money back and I am well overdrawn, can I reclaim these as they all ready take loads of interest from me. Please help!
  • I have around £4000 of charges purely for the Bank saying NO to presented Direct Debits because i didnt have funds to cover them. In a large number of my charges it totals £127.00 a day for the Bank saying NO 3 times.

My argument is that i if i didnt have the illegal charges in the first place then
i would have funds to cover them then the Companies presenting the Direct Debits wouldnt then have charged me £35.00 for each failed Direct Debit.

I'm sure the Direct Debit Guarentee says any errors will be covered and refunded.

Do you think it is possible to claim for these.:money:

  • Dear all,
can anyone help me i have just got all my back six years statements from Abbey and am working through them, but i noticed on here that you cannot claim for normal charges!,im a little confused about this, does it mean the initial charge of 32 pounds or the charges they made for not having enough money in to cover the 32 pounds? if that makes sense to anyone! lol

Thank you so much, carolannjo, for your most helpful reply - 'CP' button, included, which I did not know anything about!
Will post letter, including itemised list of o/d charges & bank maintenance charges, tomorrow. The making up of all this caused a lot of blood, sweat & tears!
I shall let you know what transpires.
    Thanks again.
