Following Martin's advice on reclaiming bankcharges I have trawled through 6 years of bank statement and discovered that most of my charges relate to the above and show up on the statements as either an overdraft uasage fee or an overdraft excess fee. This is in addition to the interest payment which is shown separately and my monthly agreed account charge.
The conventional letter templates provided on the site refer to unauthorised overdraft charges. Whereas in my case the overdraft was authorised and these charges have been added even though this wasn't exceeded. Has anyone any advice on these circumstances?0 -
Spyderman..I hope you get an answer it will answer a post by me earlier today. I never asked for an overdraft in the first place, just kept getting it upped, wonder if by using it this counts as authorised by me.

Please read post 4 in the Reclaim Help Thread link in my signature for what you can and can't claim. If you have any doubts as to what you can claim please phone your bank to check what their abbreviations stand for and/or if they just list totals in your statements.0

We have just received the list of charges from the Co-op bank and are a little confused as to what we should claim. It is not clear which charges are for what.... Should we claim them all regardless? What are commission charges? Do we claim these? And should we add interest to all of them?
Any advice would be appreciated
Thank you
Stephanie

Hi there new here and thanks to this site am starting process for claiming charges back from Abbey.
I understand the actual charges I can claim back, but my initial understanding was that I could only claim back charges providing they were less then what was paid out. So if I was charged £30 for paying out a £50 cheque I couldn't claim it.
However, after reading through this forum, I now believe it doesn't matter how much the cheque/direct debit was for as the charge is unfair in the fact it does not cost that much to process it.
So am I right I can claim for direct debit/cheques that were over the charge amount?
Thanks alot!0 -
