i closed my current account last week due to a service charge of £7.50 per month i have paid this for many years. the bank told me if i had complained they could have waived these charges. they then proceeded to charge me a further £7.50 for closiing the account. Am I entitled to claim this service charge back from the bank.

No this sounds like a charge for having the account. It is a fee for having the account.the way forward is the consumer action group .co.uk0 -
I have a question that I can't find on the chat forums re bank charges.
I have a Bank of Scotland Budget Account which all the jointly household bills come off. This account was formerly known as ScotBudget or Budgetplus Account and now is just called a Budget Account I think. My husband and myself both contribute to this account each month to cover the bills. We have an agreed overdraft limit of £8,000 but have been around £6,000 overdrawn for quite a few months. On our statements it says "Interest Debited - notified last month" which can be £70-80 per month. It doesn't actually say "charges as notified". Can I claim these amounts back at all.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.

You can't claim back spending overdraft interest, nor a service charge for having a particular account. You need to phone your bank if you are at all uncertain over what their charge totals include.0

You can't claim the interest charged for being overdrawn, have a look at post 4 in the Reclaim Help Thread linked in my signature.0

Hello, I know its possible to get money back from going over your overdraft limit, but can you get interest back that they've charged you because in some cases they've charged me £30 a month for a £2000 overdraft (which I do not go go over the limit)
I've calculated my overdraft interest that my bank has taken in the past 6 years, which adds upto £160 there or abouts and it would be nice to get this back, is it possible.
Thanks!
Rest in Peace, Emily. Say hi to Robbo for me xxx
