  • sorry to ask again but my OH wants to go ahead and claim for these and i would like to be sure that we can!

We are confused....Can we claim for a temporary overdraft limit fee for increasing our limit temporarily for a month?

    Thanks for any help
  • I'd say no... as its a fee rather than a penalty charge?
  • Thats what i thought. As i called them to arrange to extend my overdraft for a month and agreed to pay £20 for it, i don't think we can claim it back but my OH thinks we can and has added them to our total.
Also do we add interest on the first letter asking for a refund of charges?

    Thanks for your help
  • They will check the charges when/if they make an offer and will take any off that are wrong. Its worth adding the interest in the first letter although if you get an offer it won't include this.
  • my son spent last year travelling after finishing uni and working for a year to finance his trip. he withdrew money from cashpoints in small amounts so as not to be a target for muggers.he did get mugged, but it was by HSBC, his charges for the year amounted to approx £500.can anyone tell me if this is the norm. many thanks stevebrid
  • If you are asking if he can claim back charges for using ATM's abroad and the resultant foreign currency charges then the answer if no. Neither can you claim back charges for using ATM's in the UK.
  • Hi all,

  • No you can't claim back interest for going overdrawn so you need to take them off now! Read Martin's article, link in signature, and read the Reclaim Help Thread also in my signature post 4 for what you can and can't claim.

As you are in Scotland have a read of this website too although it will be a while before you need worry about going to court.

If they are charges related to dd, over overdraft facility then yes you can. If its for a service like advantage gold from Natwest then no.

You can go back 6 years.
I all have learnt is from others on many sites.
    Seek legal help if unsure.
Dont pay Private Parking tickets - they are mere invoices.
