Does this mean that they had to instruct someone to get the card for the account back, maybe by calling at her home? If so, I doubt that is reclaimable as it would probably represent a realistic cost.

    Hi There,

Can Overdraft Interest fee be claimed for? Ie the small interest charged for being over the limit?

I am trying to work out exactly what can be claimed, and it doesnt appear to be on your list.

    Regards

    Fiona
  • You can't claim back interest charged for being overdrawn. Have a read of post 4 in this thread for what you can claim.

I have been charged over £1,000 in the last 6 years on default charges, however I have also incurred over £500 in arrangement & management fees as they kept increasing my overdraft to pay the default charges.
I was also charged £1800 arangement fee for a commercial mortgage of £180,000 can I claim this back as this seems unreasonable for the work associated with the loan?

    Thanks for any help
  • Neither of these arrangement fees can be claimed.
  • Maybe a daft question but I had a £3000 overdraft with the HSBC which although I never exceeded, I was rarely in the black.
As a result I would be charged around£25 per month on average for being overdrawn.

My question is, can I claim for these charges?
  • was the £25 charge for interest on the overdraft? if so then no you cant reclaim this.
    Abbey Loan £6,000
    Tesco loan £3,000
    Tesco points --- £100 worth £400 in deals for holiday! :j :T

  • Yes it was. Aaaah well not to worry, thanks for the quick answer tho'!
  • I have just realised how crafty Barclays have been when I thought they were helpful. Basically they have allowed me never to go over my overdraft by constantly increasing it. On the face of thats good but obviously I was charged interest, this has gone on over 7 years in a personal account. heaven help me when i had a business for 20 years with a massive overdraft.
Does anybody know if I have a case?

Difficult to see how you could have a case on this one - the alternative would be that they charged you excess fees etc for the privelege.
