Is it only charges to do with overdrafts that can be reclaimed? I've just been charged £20  by Lloyds TSB for making a foreign transfer of £36 to pay for a book I ordered from Denmark, i.e. to be paid in DKK...

    Could that be reclaimed?

That was a wire fee charge. Ethically, someone should have warned you about that and advised you to use your credit card.

  • I have now received my statements from the Abbey and on top of the normal returned cheque charges there are charges for Unauthorised O/D fee(£15), and cleared transaction fees (£15). Which of these if any can I claim?
    Any advice would be welcome
    regards

  • You can claim back both. Cleared transaction charges are instances where they have honoured a direct debit or cheque payment when you had insufficient funds in your account (unlike returned cheques when they decided not to pay it for you). Go for it!
  • I am confused as to what I can claim. My IF statement shows all failed dd / so fee, unauthorised o/d and unpaid pers cheque.

As these are due to me being o/drawn can I claim them back?

If you have any queries/doubts on what your bank calls the various charges, please call you bank to check.
  • I have now sent off my claim. I was wondering if antone had any success with the Abbey/
My claim (with interest) comes to over £1400!
Thanks Jamesharrison99 and Edinbugh lass for your advice!
  • I was overdrawn nearly £2k on a £2k limit but repaid it in full on 3rd Jan 2007. I see today that I have been charged a full month's interest at about £21. Can I reclaim?
