Didn't manage to get the ironing done again last night  What is it with me, I start the day with all the best intentions and then I get home from w**k and it all goes out of the window.

So what did you do instead I hear you lovely OS'ers cry, well I went through (no lie) about 100 home magazines I have been saving ready for the extension and pulled out the pictures I like so now I'm left with about 20 pages. Why are these magazines either full of the same thing or tat?

Plans for this evening is my mum is coming around for dinner and to help me with a bag of clothes that need mending in one way or another (and this will be done as I can't get out of it!)

Apart from that nothing much going on with me today. Hope everyone is OK and as always take or leave the :grouphug: as needed.

    Happy birthday Miss Peem

Terrible night's sleep last night so I'm feeling washed out today. :( Thankfully I don't have too much to do today.

I got a strange phonecall at work yesterday. Tax Credit Office were phoning to check I was still employed. Told them that the only change that has taken place in the last few years is the name of my employer - everything else is still the same, same address, telephone numbers, same hours worked, etc. I provided them with the required information but I got the feeling that my second phone call was dealt with in India and the person didn't seem overly confident of what he should do or ask. I'm praying (very, very hard) that my tax credits payment will go through as normal tomorrow or I am facing a very bleak December. :( As the Tax Credit Agency is a government agency, why can't they just liaise with the Inland Revenue to obtain this information??

Moan over. I'm missing DD terribly but hoping she is having a fabulous time on her trip. Still, the mornings are much quieter with just one teenager to get ready. :rotfl:

Have a thrilling Thursday everyone. x

  • Have just opened my curtains because there was a strange orange glow through them and have been greeted by the sight of the most beautiful sunrise in ages. It's making the whole room look warm. :) Wish I knew how to snap and share it on here.
Isn't it funny how a little thing like that just sets your day up perfectly. Shame I have to rush around doing lunch boxes and don't have the time to enjoy over a coffee.

    Back to OSish pursuits. :D

    Morning everyone

Not been on for a few days. Had a busy week at work (end of the month) and have been knackered.

Got a load of washing in that is nearly finished. Have another two to do as well.

Going for the food shopping and also need to go to the sorting office and collect a parcel and the library to collect some books.

Really should tackle the ironing pile as it is getting out of hand.

Someone at work has kindly agreed to swap their holidays with mine for summer 2007. Just waiting on hearing back to make sure it is ok with work. We know where we want to go on holiday so been searching for the best deal and as soon as I know for definate from work I think we will book :j :j :j

Well off for a browse to see what has been happening the last few days.

    Bye for now :D

    Morning all

Well a very quiet day here today, as I am home on my own.

This would normally be a work day but as I am changing jobs I do not have to go in and the LO's are at nursery as normal.

I do have a large list of jobs to do, but as I had a bad trip to the dentist yesterday, I am still feeling a bit fragile - my fault for not going for three years.
I think I might have a bit of a pamper day - with lots of shopping this afternoon.

    hugs to all

    Morning all :hello:

Am at my mum's on my laptop, finally connected to the web via my laptop, it's so frustrating not having the phone connected at home yet.

Grandma's funeral was yesterday and went really well. I saw almost all my cousins - the only ones who didn't make it were some who live overseas and/or have very young children. My youngest first cousin, who is 11, looks amazingly like Grandma - not something I'd ever really noticed before!

Thanks to everybody who sent good wishes, and especially thanks to gingin who remembered yesterday - hun, I'm really sorry your grandfather's so ill, and WOW, your grandparents have been together for 72 years?!?! I thought mine did well, they just reached their diamond wedding before Grandpa died 5 years ago, and they were the model of the perfect marriage - completely devoted to each other. Grandpa's ashes have been put aside and will now be combined with Grandma's and interred next year in the village in Norfolk where they spent their retirement.

I can't stop long - I'm off back to London on the train shortly, and then off to Cardiff this afternoon with friends for our long-awaited (and stoozing-funded :D) opera trip (back on Monday). I know there are more direct ways of getting from Durham to Cardiff but we had already booked an advance bargain fare of £22 each, return, from Paddington to Cardiff, and the short-notice ticket to Durham and back already cost me £91.40  so it would have worked out MUCH more expensive to go via Birmingham which is the logical route.

Just waiting for Mum to get back from walking the dog and then she is taking me to the station.

Hope you're all well - doubt I'll be back on here before Tuesday

    Love Rzl xx

    Morning all.

I'm surprised to be up so early.

At about ten o'clock last night I popped out to put some rubbish in the bin. Nothing special about that 'cos I'm a big boy now and I'm not afraid of the dark. Honest :)

It wasn't until around fifteen minutes later that I thought to myself, "Self, there's a seriously nasty pong around here!" I couldn't imagine what it was, and it was getting worse by the minute. I had a wander round and it seemed to be everywhere I went, but in the end I wondered if, since I hadn't emptied it for the last two days, my little kitchen compost bin (an ice cream tub really) had something in it that had gone off.

Off I went to have a look, and nope, it wasn't that.

This is when I finally noticed a whole load of brown speckles all over the kitchen floor...

    ..cat poo!!!!!

    Aaaarrggghhh!

By this time I'd been in every room in the house

So that was me - on my hands and knees sniffing all my carpets, dragging a bowl full of water laced with my trusty stardrops and some wotsit (that super duper disinfectant stuff whose name escapes me right now. Zoflora is it?) and my three inch scrubbing brush clutched in hand.

Sally was somewhat bemused - she'd never seen this before :)

Two bedrooms, the front room, the loo and the stairs - all on my poor old creaky knees! Then a major mop job on the kitchen floor.

    Gawd I'm tired.

And today of all days. I'm all set up to do a "guerilla leaflet raid" on behalf of my local Freecycle group at a recycling bash set up by our local council.

I might just be ready for a hot tub and an early night later :)

    <sigh>

    Morning everyone :)

Thanks so much for all of the messages, it has been absolutely lovely. As some of you said, the hardest part is my lovely Grandma. I have always been so proud that they were together for 72 years, (married for 66, telegram from the Queen on their 60th!) but never thought about the "end" when one of them has gone, I know when my Grandad goes, a big part of her will go too. My Grandma is true os, she had 2 babies in 1942 and 1945 whilst my grandad was at war and they never had much money but I have the most beautiful photo of her in all of her 40's glory (hair, clothes) and my Grandad in his uniform and immaculate children by her side.

As a result, I am feeling very flat today so am going to have a girlie morning out with dd, coffee, cake and (window) shopping. In fact a big bargain basement christmas shop has opened up so we might spend a few pennies there. Mr T's is also calling.

DD wet the bed last night so I need to get her mattress sorted somehow. We had a family cake baking production line going last night so might do some more for ds's school. Ds has been given the part of the narrator in the school christmas play so grateful I don't have to make a costume like most of the other mums, although he insists on wearing a shirt and tie!

    Happy birthday little miss Peem!

Have a good day everyone :)

    Morning all

Lovely to read everyone up and about so early. I've just driven into work as I've managed to get a much sought after parking ticket so I can drive straight down to Tiverton at about 1400 tonight for my Uni course, then back home to Plymouth - hurrah!! I get v. excited each week when I know I'm going down, :j the South West is home for me.

gingin Thinking of you and Rzl, it is very hard when you are losing a loved one. No wonder you feel flat today, I think going out for a shop is a good idea.

squeaky oh dear it sounds like you had one of those nights, I'm sorry to say that your mishap did make me smile a bit :o , only because I frequently have such events that only seem to happen to me! Anyway, enjoy your soak later :D

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY Miss Peem.

Good luck with your clean catowen, everyone seems very prepared for Christmas. I haven't even thought about it yet  Maybe next weekend!

Aww, thanks PP, if it's /nohome that's the one! Very proud, but I have to admit that it's not all my own work. I hope you find it useful, if you are in that area. It will be interesting to find out how many people do sign up. Working on the project has certainly made me realise how lucky I am.

So, bits of work to do today in the office, cake at 11 to celebrate website launch (yum!) then drive back home, via uni - hurrah!!

    Have good days all :)
