Yes,you hit the nail right on the head!!!I told them I had not had cable before,my house would need cabling up,no problem they said,we will send a 2 man crew,at 4:30pm a Virgin van pulled up,the guy sat in the van for 30 minutes playing with his mobile phone,he came to my door, shook his head and said he can't do it,needs a 2 man crew!!I knew this,Virgin knew this, utter waste of my time, and, as I say left me without broadband!!WHY oh WHY can't these profit making companies do their job????What ever happened to customer service,as in the UK's telecoms business, it's DEAD.:(Richard Branson should be high profile in sorting his useless company out.I wrote to Virgin Media, but never even had a reply, brilliant.Orange don't care either, someone from Orange said they would call me back after I had spent hours on the phone, did they? NO.
Problem is,if you lived in an old NTL franchise, since they merged they have started to use TeleWorst's database &,according to a mate who still works for them,it's a bl00dy mess!0 -
My connection tonight is so bad,its taking ages just to load a simple web page,I am so angry and frustrated that I pay good money to Orange for a totally useless broadband service.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:Kawasaki z750 Rider!0

orange has pretty much given up the home internet business.. they are returning their LLU lines to BT.. have you looked at http://www.samknows.com to see what alternatives are available at your local exchange?0

I've been having problems for over six weeks now.
My router reports that I should be getting a speed of around 6 Meg but if I used BT's speedtester (speedtester.bt.com - which is what Orange support ask you to use), I get a speed of between 75 and 90 kbps. They then tell you that everything is ok because the router says it is receiving a speed of 6 Meg. Then the blame game starts - it's your computer, it's your router, it's your phone socket, you've got a virus... basically, anything that means it isn't their fault.
It's not my computer - I have more than one with different operating systems.
It's not the router - it's the same if I use another one.
It's not the phone socket - there is only one with no extensions.
It's not a virus - I've thoroughly checked.
The Speedtester reports that the IP Profile for your line is - 135 Kbps which is where I believe the problem lies.
Eventually after three weeks of being constantly on the phone to tech support (every time going through all of the details again, being told there's nothing wrong, it's the router, it's the computer etc.), I finally got someone to acknowledge that this was incorrect and I should have a 5000-6000 figure for this. Apparently 135 is the lowest it can be and indicates there is a problem. After that, it was fixed a few days later. :T
Everything ok for a couple of weeks, and then last night I completely lost my internet connection for a few hours, and since it came back up, exactly the same issue. So more hours on the phone to tech support to try to get it resolved again. I can't seem to get them to look into the previous call and do whatever it was that fixed it last time. And someone will get back to me within four days... Yeah, thanks! So that is about a month all-told that I have been stuck with a connection that makes it pretty much impossible to do anything.
Rant over! But I would not recommend Orange to anybody and as soon as I can, I'll be looking to switch elsewhere. Tech support is awful. It sounds like others are having similar issues with speed - I'd be interested to know if you're also getting the low IP profile and what, if anything, has worked for you in getting them to fix it.

Have you called Orange?..You've been moved over onto the ADSL2+ WBC network. Also are you using a Orange supplied router or a third party one? And if it's the latter, what make is it?
It is an orange supplied router, Netgear N150 DGN1000.
However I have now discovered that at 6am on weekdays I get 11MB/s so I think my router is ok. At times when I'm not asleep or at work, times I would like to use my home broadband I get between 0.1 and 0.6 MB/s. Orange couldn't find a fault on the line and took me through checking the router status and changing wireless channel but isn't this a case of there not being sufficient bandwidth at peak times?
I understand that bandwidth decreases at peak times but I actually cannot do anything other than the most basic browsing of webpages.0 -
My Orange broadband connection has also gone slow from last couple of days. I rang Orange yesterday and they said this is because are merging or installing new network - the adviser said it should be ok in next couple of days.0

My Orange broadband has also been very slow over the last few days.
Hope things get sorted soon because it is not letting me log in to my banking
We should all get a discount for the inconvenience that is being caused.
I am half way through my contract and would love to cancel but I guess it would cost me a fortune to do so.0
