Why do some people never leave feedback?

  • I rarely leave feedback for my buyers. Whats the point? I've had some crappy buyers who take ages to pay despite my listings specifying payment within 24 hours, don't get in touch to explain where payment is or when it can be expected etc. Why should I give them positive feedback? I always leave feedback for people i've bought off.

As a buyer, i will leave feedback for the seller once i have recieved the item.

As a seller, i leave feedback for the buyer once the item has been paid for and i have dispatched, i do this along side thanking the buyer for their purchase and letting them know that their item is on its way via ebay messeges.

I also wanted to add, has a seller i don't transfer the funds for items sold, out of paypal unless, ive either recieved feedback, or the buyer has messeged me to let me know the item has arrived safely, or a month has passed on the rare occasions ive not had any feedback, incase a problem arises.

Also for very new sellers paypal hold funds for a few weeks unless feedback is recieved, which can be, and i found it to be, very difficult to fund postage & packaging cost ect when your on a very tight budget, and a buyer who is perfectly happy with their item, but just cant be bothered to leave feedback, i would consider to be bad mannered.

  • If a buyer pays up within the 3 days i ask for on listings I will leave feedback straight away, if they take forever but pay before i can open a npb then i leave nothing.
If i buy something i will leave feedback once i have recieved an item and had time to use it/look it over, if im not completely happy but dont feel its worth complaining about then i leave nothing.
Also until recently i didnt know ebay had stopped neg feedback for buyers so that was another reason i wouldnt leave feedback on some items.

This is ok if you're hanging around for an auction to finish, but 24 hours is too tight a rein IMO. I expect payment within about 3 days.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!
  • I always leave feedback. Think its just lazyness.

In terms of sellers leaving feedback for buyers, it can be beneficial - I bought something from a seller months ago, forgot to save them as a favourite and couldn't get the details. I want to buy from them again, so I checked feedback and found their details from the feedback they left me.

Would not have been able to buy from them (unless someone can tell me how to find purchases from months ago!) if they had not left feedback for me or me for them.

    agree, I often do that
the downside is that everybody will be able to see what you bought, forever...
not all sellers of.. let's say.. private items... remember to set listings as private.
Do I need to know that one of my buyers enjoys, how can I say, electrically operated devices of a private nature ? ;)

Do you write a letter of Thanks every time you shop at tesco's or buy petrol for the car?

What you really want is little stars or housepoints next to your name telling everyone what a good person you are.
