Why do some people never leave feedback?

I usually leave feedback within a few days of receiving the items that i have purchased simply because it is expected when using ebay and also polite to do so.

However I ended up seriously annoyed last week as one person that I had bought an item from had messaged me several times about leaving them feedback.

This was not a deiberate act on my part to antagonise a relativey new seller but was simply unavoidable due to circumstances. I am currently pregnant and had an emergecy admission to hospital due to concerns about both my own and my unborn baby's health. I really did not deserve the rudeness in the messages or indeed the number of them. :(

I always leave feedback as soon as the buyer has paid. I have found that you get a better return on feedback if you do this. Now this I did test and got a 20% increase in feedback over a 28 day period. I ran it again over a few months and got the same answer every time. 20% more feedback if you leave feedback first as a seller. I know you will all be up in arms about this but these types of reports where what I did before I had my stroke and had to retire early. Now sat in front of a computer a lot more hours in the day though.

thanks for sharing this, I have not done any tests, I nearly always leave fb first and my fb rate for Feb was 77%.

  • I hate being hassled for feedback, and I don't leave it very often now.

Last year I bought something, and the seller sent an email asking for feedback - with a line that said something like 'Delivery date IS NOT dispatch date, do not mark me down for late delivery', which I found a bit snotty - and she'd posted outside her own dispatch guidelines. I left her a neutral whereas I probably wouldn't have left any feedback if she hadn't irritated me.

I just remembered that I have purposely not left feedbackfor a seller that I bought from about a week or so ago. I was quite happy with the transaction and with the item but in the packaging there is a bright orange flyer that explained in large font that there was an obligation for buyers to leave feedback and that if buyers didn't then there was a good chance that a NPB would be opened accidentally against them as the seller was a Power seller and their software was set up to only recognise completed transactions as being those where feedback had been left. They further advised that anything less than a 5* would need to be discussed by email beforehand as otherwise ebay would remove that rating.

I thought anyone that could BS so much was probably best not having any feedback left.

"Once you have received your eBay purchase we would be grateful if you would
leave us positive feedback and 5 Stars. And, if you have any reservations
about that decision, please contact us first.

We use the ebay automatic feedback system. So as soon as positive feedback
has been left for us, we will in return automatically leave positive feedback
    for you."

This sort of message near enough guarantees I won't be leaving feedback until they have.

They might have got 1 star from me.

I'm far too nice and I thought it might be more frustrating for them if they never get any feedback.

Interestingly though their stars are mediocre (so the automatic removal is obviously in their head!) and they do not have TRS.

The strangest I ever came across was a buyer who sent me an email saying that when they got around to posting feedback, mine would be excellent as they had never been more pleased with a purchase and the service they received.

They never did leave me any feedback :rotfl:

I have been buying on Ebay for years now and still wonder why some people do leave feedback. Why bother?

Isn't it on a par with saying 'thank you' when you buy something from a shop?

If I unpack an item I've bought and am happy with it, I automatically say thank you by leaving feedback.

    Simple good manners IMO
