I've just received my next 2 bags of GG and I haven't used up my last order yet. I still have around 2/3 of the second bag left in the litter tin. It's been 9 weeks since I opened the 1st bag so it's looking like 2 bags will last 2.5+ months, very, very pleased :)
  • When we had Daisy as a kitten in Sept she was used to pets at Home wood pellets so we continued to use it. Now she is a bit bigger so wees more it is just dissolving to sawdust. I think they have changed the formula as the last bag there was the sawdust there before she even used the tray. This litter was trailing all round the house so today I tried Tesco clumping litter as a friend said it was good. but poor Daisy Is crying by her tray, she paws it and digs but then just cries and won't use it. I put some of the wood pellets on top so she would get the idea but she's not having any of it. Just found out she has pooped behind the washing machine. Any ideas on what I could try next?
  • I'm going to give Golden Grey a try, as it's starting to sound like miracle litter. Just waiting for payday...

Just used the last of my second order of GG master so it's lasted 3 months for my two indoor cats. Works out at £0.77 per week per cat, absolutely over the moon :j
  • Can I get a link to the exact right litter on zooplus, please? There are a couple to choose from - I want the magic one :p

    The Golden Grey?

AFAIK they all work the same, it's personal preference as to whether you want a scented / unscented one (the Golden Pine is different)

Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts I've been Money Tipped!
After several years - last Wednesday collected a 'rescue cat' - still hides away during the day!
At the moment she uses Wilkinson's Wood based pellets 15ltr bag - though not their basic.
We've still got plenty left - the main problem is the smell !!

With my previous cat - we used the Morrison 'paper based' litter, no idea if that is still available.

I've read all through the thread, and I'm staggered by some of the prices quoted for some brands!

Wary of changing it too much, the Rescue cattery did say the wood chip was what she was used to, and if you change - mix it first.
I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard
  • Do you know what my first 'litter' was? Plain old soil. We used to use this back when we first got the cats and were training them, and we never had any problems with it at all. It just smelled 'Earthy', but it was actually rather pleasant. Any solids could just get chucked out into the garden immediately, and the rest would be changed each night. After a few weeks they just stuck to the garden. :j

It was also cheap as dirt :rotfl:

We've never had any problems introducing different litters either. Even used newspaper shreds in a pinch (wouldn't recommend it).

First off yay for rescue cat:T

Secondly the initial outlay for the litter is totally offset by overall cost per week/month. The non clumping pellet litters soon add up as you have to change them much more frequently.

I wouldn't mix the litters if you are going to try clumping ones as you'll just end up with a mess. I'd stick with what you're using right now til kitty is more settled then make a switch to clumping.

I initially used wood pellet with my little guy then changed to clumping and had no issues, I use oko plus though which is a bit more woody looking/feeling than the golden grey which is really gravelly. Oko plus is fabulous, can't recommend it highly enough!
