No its less mess, those granules get everewhere, You need a thick paper like the mail, put 2/3 in the tray, then tear up the rest. Did me fine for my old puss.0 -

I have recently moved house and no longer have a cat flap (it's rented so I can't put one in). My 4.5 year old boy likes being indoors and won't go outside for more than about 5 minutes - he's a timid lad. So, obviously, he is now doing his thing inside and it's costing me a fortune in cat litter.
He's been really, really good at using the tray and so I am trying to make sure I am equally good at keeping it clean for him. But I am getting through so much litter...what are the best cheap ones you have found?
Morrisons is my nearest supermarket and their cheapest value stuff isn't very good (I use lots of it). Their next one up is ok-ish, but I am wondering if there are any other options?
Thanks!

Have you asked the LL or just assumed you can't have one. Weve rented for years and have always had a cat flap0 -
I always use wooden pellet cat litter - I used to get it from B&M, but ther price has crept up so it's not much cheaper than Pets at Home own brand now - £6 for 30 litres - and the new brand seems to last a lot longer.
I refresh the tray at least daily - scoop and flush the poo, then sieve the litter with a (dedicated) frying pan basket, so that only the sawdust gets thrown away, top up with fresh litter as needed.
I sieve the sawdust into a separate wastebin (actually a lidded nappy bin) and put the bag into household refuse collection each week.
Really economical, very little waste - I think I'm using about a litre of fresh litter a week for one indoor cat, so 20p a week (plus around £10 one off cost for the bucket and chip pan).
I live in a large warehouse flat with no access to a garden - it works well for me and creates little mess or smell.0 -
Hi Kate, I rescue abandoned stray pregnany females or emergency care needed for adults and have always got a house of cats. Ive had 22 living in my care for past 2 years so you can imagine the amount of litter I use. I use either B&M or Pets at Home Natural Pine Wood Pellet. I buy 30ltr bags @ 5.59 per bag. For a single cat, I would imagine 30ltrs would last a while but not so likely in here. Pets at Home delivery too, if you spend a certain amount then its free delivery. Wood Pellet doesnt smell awful, not dusty so doesnt get walked everywhere but if dropped, easily picked up no problem. Every pther littler Ive used, with 20 -40 cats at a time, I have to stay on top of smells as they live as part of our family and have the run of our home with the resident cats & dogs.0

We use the same, but of late, I find the litter is more like dust and not little stones/chips - Hopefully it's a dodgy batchRegards,
