Same as any other Golden Grey (and we have tried them all, cats not me just so we clear)..

I have a digger named Macius so never know if litter tracks or if Macius digs it all out....

Clumps brilliant this one, and it is lovely white with small blue silicone granules.. smells lovely too. I hated the baby powder smell of some varieties of Golden Grey but this one smells really nice...

I think this is the one we will be using now..

just adopted 3 wonderful kittens from Celia Hammond Animal trust 9 1/2 weeks old. They have been using the litter tray and i took the lid off but 1 keeps peeing on the bed. I am using Tesco low dust cat litter as my old cat Eric loved it and it is easy to change and not cost too much.

Any tips? if i catch her going to pee on the bed i take her to the litter tray and stroke and talk to her praising her if she goes to the toilet

Get another bigish litter tray so she has a choice where to go. Also some cats will only use a litter tray that hasnt been used.

Ive bought that before but my local poundworld doesnt do it just now.

Im currently using home bargains stuff which is similar in quality and its 99p for 5l, you can also get 15l for 2.79

The clumping stuff isnt good for cats lungs apparently, thats why I use the eco pellet kind.

Wilkinsons also sell eco litter for 1.50 for 5l I think it was the last time I bought it there.

May as well revive this old thread as it's got plenty of feedback in it already.
Mine have been using, and seem quite happy with, Sainsbury's Basic Cat Litter, but as it's currently unavailable, I thought I'd see what others recommend.

I expect to be placing an order with Zooplus soon, so thought I'd get some Golden Grey for them to try.

A couple of questions if anyone can answer.

A few of the recent reviews on Zooplus suggest the quality has gone down recently. Anyone noticed that, or is it just someone's perception that has changed?

How does it compare to the supermarket's own clay based litters? The smell has never been an issue for me. Either the odour control works, or I'm far enough away not to notice it, so wondering what 'benefits' it has.

And a quick last question: Is there much difference between the varieties, or is it mostly personal/cats preference?

I know a lot of people still use GG - I had a few bags that were really dusty so I hunted around for something similar and found this: http://www.zoofast.co.uk/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=bentonite+compact&x=0&y=0&search_in_description=1

Love it! It's really cheap (:D) but fantastic quality - it does take about a week to get here but, when it's litter, it's not really an issue as you just need to remember to order in plenty of time.

There's not really any smell (I use the green one which is supposed to be scented)

I still only need to do a full tray changed every 3-4 months so still fantastic quality

Re own brand clays - I tried a couple but found they set like concrete and tbh compared with both the GG and the Bentonite they work out really expensive

  • there was a money saving tv show about 6 month ago and they tested lots of varities. Surprisingly Tesco value came up first!!
Food and Smellies Shop target £50 pw - managed average of £49 per week in 2013 down to £38.90 per week in 2016
  • I have two cats. I have been using wood pellet cat litter from supermarkets for years. One of my friend recommended ZARDS cat litter, I was very pleased with the product. They sell 30Ltr bas for £9.99. They are natural pinewood pellets, odour free and clump free. Highly recommended. They even deliver locally in Manchester. Reliable people.
