    It is unfair charges...

Certainly unfair, but I wonder if they could actually be construed as unlawful - as per Martin's recent, and very successful, campaign against the banks?

If it was me that had been charged, I would be writing to them recorded delivery threatening small claims court if they do not refund the charges, but since my account was empty, I will just have to be happy that they have lost my custom.

Believe me they will die out soon anyway, Paypal is the playground bully and nochex can't stop them, so what do they do, start bullying their own customers.... great idea!!

"An account becomes dormant after 18 months without sending/receiving a payment. The dormant account charges are then applied from the last date of activity at £5 per quarter "

I got this from Customer Services when I enquired about this.

I have complained to the FSA about them and may now write to the OFT as well.

I would have thought that Nochex would have had to inform it's users to any changes of T&C's which did not happen. Also they should inform us when accounts become dormant.

This seems very sharp practice from a shoddy company. I am hoping more people complain. Mine is only for £11 but it is the prinicpal of the matter that is getting me going

As I said, I've lost £40 to them, and I agree that it needs as many people as possible to complain.

I hope that I get the same reply that you have from Nochex, surely by not stating this in the T&C they have shot themselves in the foot?

Surely they can't make up T&C as they go along?

I am also prepared to complain to the OFT, this company's actions need investigating.

After seeing this thread, I have also checked by asking for password... same here!! Dormant account & been charged my balance £22.84!!

I will def take this further through principal... I am really annoyed that there was NO notification at all. Any advice on where to start & what to say?

Well, unless I get a favourable response from Nochex, I will be contacting the FSA, then the Office of Fair Trading first of all.

Although the FSA will not get involved, I think it is worth logging a complaint with them. I suspect the OFT will only respond is there is a sufficient volume of complaints against the company.

I would go for the small claims court, but it costs £30 and you have to be pretty sure of winning to risk it. If anyone else has any other views or suggestions, I am sure that I, and all the other victims, would be very grateful.

 I have never liked nochex since they charged me to verify my bank account/debit card to be able to withdraw my money, and surprise surprise the amount they billed was right at the upper end of their limit. Also the attitude of the customer services was awful. Emptied the account and have never used them again.
