  • Barclays have today credited the offer we accepted to our account. Have just paid all of my bills :D...
  • Hi,

has anyone had a Woolwich account? Was with The Woolwich for about 20yrs & they have recently been taken over by Barclays. Want to reclaim unfair charges but Barclays say they don't have historical information from old Woolwich account. Is there anyone else in same situation? How do I get in touch with Woolwich?
    Please help!!!

Can we still claim in the meantime or do we just have to wait till test case is sorted?

I sent off for my bank charges a month & a half ago, I recieved the statements today. I have £522.50 woth of charges, £104.91 interest, total £627.41. My first charge was in Jan 02, over 5 years ago.

I was with Woolwich, which is now Barclays. Is it a good sign that they still posted me the statements last week (but they probably have to do that anyway if you ask?).

So do I go ahead & send the next letter, the one which details the amounts & asked for a response within 14 days?

Will they accept & log/lodge this & then deal with it from there when the test claim is sorted?

    Thank you in advance

The test case might carry on for a year or longer, so if you have charges going 5 years back or more it is advisable to get the ball rolling. Send your letters and if necessary file a court claim to ensure it gets in the system, otherwise you might get time-barred.

  • Does anyone know the address to make a claim to when trying to get back charges from the Woolwich? As they are now Barclays, is it them I write to now? Any help appreciated.

    Hiya.
I am a Woolwich customer now with Barclays.I applied for my bank charges last Dec and so far i have not been asked to pay a fee.If you can get no details of the Woolwich adress then write to Barclays and they should be able to give you all the info.
    Hope this helps.x
  • hi all,

    pardon my ignorance if the answer lies somewhere on this site but;

I have been with the Woolwich for about 8 years and want to start very soon reclaiming all charges with interest - they have recently been taken over by Barclays, does this complicate matters? Or do I just go ahead and claim off Barclays as if I have been with them all these years?

thanks in advance for any help on this matter

my hubby addressed all his to the woolwich, although his claim was started about two months ago.because he was a customer of the woolwich and not barclays , although some of the replies have come from barclays.fairly sure this is what will happen with yours too, anything you claim for through the woolwich will be redirected to barclays , i belive the full take over is in oct, this is when THE WOOLWICH will cease to exist.don,t know what new claiments will do then , so hurry up about it.

I was with the Woolwich Building Society, who have been taken over by Barclays Bank. As the Woolwich no longer exist, who should i direct my Bank Charge claim to - should it be to Barclays or to Woolwich?

This question might look familiar - I wasn't sure which section to should put it in.
