    Hi,

    Am too at the court stage of me v woolwich/barclays. The word on the wind is that they'll settle, so my advice is sit it out and don't take anything less that everything you're owed.

    Good luck

    Can you believe the Woolwich. I'm claiming for £380, which is quite a small amount considering some I've seen, but today they filed a defence against my claim! I'm really annoyed - especially as I live overseas (still a UK Resident) which means I won't be able to attend court to contest my claim. Can anyone offer any advise.....

    You keep going my dear: they'll settle:cool:

    Got an offer of £1850 from Barclays yesterday....would have preferred the full amount (£3099 with interest, £2473 without)...but we desperately need the money now to pay some bills so have posted the acceptance form this afternoon. It's taken a while to get this far as we have waited the full 8 weeks for them to respond....but really pleased to have gotten something back without much hassle. All I did was send the first letter with a list of charges & waited. They wrote back saying we will respond within 4 weeks/8 weeks & then got a letter at 4 weeks saying it would be 8 weeks - then got the offer!

    Accepting this offer also means I can get started on our credit cards as we can now afford the fees for the statements.

    Thanks everyone:beer::money:

  • Hi everyone am new to the site and have only just started out on what hopefully will be a successful journey. So far response has been good from the Woolwich (early days I know) but having received a response to my letter requesting reffund of charges I would like advice on the following:
    I sent the Woolwich requesting refund of £5033.28 on 20th July.
    I received a response today (25th) with what appears to be standard letter and customer care leaflet.
    My letter (as per template from this site) states I require full response within 14 days (ie 6th August) yet their letter informs me that they 'aim to resolve this matter by 20 August'(2 weeks on).
    I am prepared to be patient in this matter but already it would seem that the bank is already trying to dictate the timetable to me whereas Martin advises that I should be dictating to them.
    Their leaflet explains also goes on to explain that with complaints they aim to find a solution within 4 weeks. However if my complaint takes longer to investigate then they keep me informed as to what is happening and when they expect to resolve and that I should receive a final within 8 weeks.

    The question is - do I dictate or be dictated to?

  • HI,

    Sent letter to the woolwich with £10 cheque on the 19th June. Cheque not cashed, and no answer to letter. How long should i wait before anything may happen.
