Woolwich Bank Charges (merged)

I've started claiming my charges from the Woolwich aka Barclays. I have just received a letter from them (Barclays) offering my £626 of the £936.13, including interest, that I am claiming back from them.
They have given me eight weeks from the date of their letter (10 July) in which to accept or decline their offer.
Thing is, do I just bite the bullet and accept their offer or should I go for it and move onto the next stage to claim my full ammount. Ill be on holiday from 27 July to 14 Aug, giving me 2 weeks now before I go away (I have to pack and prep for me and my family too!) Will I miss any deadline if I start procedings before I go away or should I leave it 'till I return? PLUS, does this stage of the process get stressful (I'm sick of stress from my other thread!)?!
Have you started court proceedings? If you start today nothing will happen for a month, so that takes you past 14th AugustGot It & Spent It :dance:IKEA CARD = £120 charges = £175 received (146%)MARBLES = £450 charges = £370 received (82%)I.F. = £494 charges = £494 received (100%)CAPITAL ONE = £981 charges = £1,489.03 (152%)BARCLAYCARD = £580 charges = £786.12 (136%)On Hold :mad:A+L = £722 charges (target = 147%)BARCLAYS = £1,405 charges (target = 128%)BARCLAYS = £175 charges (target = 140%)ABBEY = £3,220 charges (target = 148%)0 -

Hi Everyone,
I banked with woolwich for 18yrs until my open plan current account was taken over by Barclays in May 2007.
I am highly dissatisfied with Barclays, website a shambles and not user friendly call center also impersonal and unhelpfull.
I am considering recliaming bank chrges from my now closed Woolwich account.
Could someone in the know please tell me do I write to Barclays or Woolwich
for past statements?
Thanks in advance

Had an offer from woolwich re my claim, i'm just wondering if anyone has had experience of ringing them direct and trying to get an improved offer, as martin says can be done in his steps guide?
I have seen various threads that people have done this with other companies, but none who have done it with the woolwich.
Thanks in advance.
Sorry if this is in the wrong place.

Woolwich/Barclays isn't the easiest of banks to reclaim from but you should find lots of useful information in this thread especially the post of addresses etc by welshcakes.0

Hi,
I was in the same position as yourself not so long ago. Ring them and demand that they send you a print out of all charges they have applied to your account. Tell them that it is under data protection act and also it worked for me by telling them it was unlawful for them to with-hold my information from me (not sure if this was correct but worked for me!!!) under the freedom of information act. Woolwich are now being taken over by Barclays, I am at the court stage and the court date is 31 july, I am owed £3500. They have strung it out as long as they can so hopefully you will have more luck than me and they settle early with you. Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!0
