Every month i seem to go overdrawn as i dont have an over draft limit at all and nearly every month i get charged £30 - £90 a month as Barclays will only charge u for the first 3 days u are overdrawn (How considerate), Also if they decide not to pay a DD coz im overdrawn i think they charge me £35 so some months i can be charged in excess of £100, can these charges be claimed back? Im such an idiot when it comes to things like this. This used to be a woolwich account transfered to Barclays!

Yes, you need to follow Martin's guide, see in my signature.

If you're going overdrawn every month, you must look at why this is happening. I suggest you visit the Debt Free Wannabe board and seek advice there after posting full details of your income and outgoings.

Is there a limit set on banks on overdrawn accounts? I thought i read somewhere that they could charge a maximum of £12? Every month im being charged at least £30. I went £18 overdrawn and they slap £30 then a DD comes out and guess what they charge me another £30 in one month? Is this right or can i claim it back?
  • You can claim it back but the likelyhood is that any bank charges case will be put on hold until the conclusion of the OFT test case process. The maximum refers to the threshold in which the OFT will not take action on Credit Cards(it has no legal basis either).

  • Hi i have just sent my first letter asking for the summary of the charges for the last 6 years to Barclays. I recieved them back but only for the last 2 years as they took over my account which was with the woolwich two years ago. Can i claim back the charges for the other 4 years i was with the woolwich and if so how? do i ring them or write again?:money:

My OH sent off for his and they included the previous years with the Woolwich. Why don't you call them and ask why they never sent all of them.
