  • Hello, Hope someone may have the answer to my question. . .

I incurred alot of charges(£1000 +) for going into my un-authorised overdraft limit whilst banking with the Woolwich but now that the Woolwich is no more and been taken over by Barclays will i still be able to claim these charges back?
Can Barclays get my statements covering the past 6 years which i had with the Woolwich?

    Thanks for reading!

 I would like some advice please. My mother used to bank with Woolwich that has now been taken over by Barclays. Although claiming bank charges is on a pending court case, just to get the ball rolling, how / who would she have to apply to, to claim back her bank charges. Thanks

I used to have a Woolwich current account (little used) which was transferred over to Barclays when they merged.

This account, although open has been sitting around with just pennies in it, when I mistakingly used the switch card instead of one of my others for about 7 quid.

As soon as I realised (the next day) I transferred money in from another account, but as expected, got a letter from Barclays within a couple of days confirming a £30 Paid Referral Fee for going overdrawn by more than £5

I presume they won't let me close the account until I've paid them the Paid Referral Fee...?

No, not at all. But it's £30 I can ill afford, all for a genuine mistake.. Not that they're bothered about that.

    Hi guys

I've sent my subject access request and received statements. Now at the stage where I've totalled up how much they owe me and want to send a letter asking for it back. Which address do I send it to? My branch or a main address???

It is an old Woolwich account

I know the addresses are on here somewhere but I've spent half an hour trying to find them and now must ask for help.... anyone... please!

This post should help with the old Woolwich accounts. Or not when I actually read it, send it or hand in to your local branch and then when they reply you can use the address they give.

Well... I wrote to customer complaints and stated the facts. Just had a reply today telling me they've refunded the £30 as a gesture of goodwill :)
  • Hi,

I used to have a Woolwich account (which was merged with Barlcays) does anyone know who I write to with regards to reclaiming charges from my Woolwich account. I take it that it is Barclays but just want to be sure before I write the letter.

    Many thanks

    Charlie
