I first asked for statements in mid-April and was refunded on 18th June. Can't complain about the Woolwich at all - they did exactly what they said on the tin!!!
JoBank Charges - MCOL – LTSB Current Account £4,603.92 / Settled £5,680.76 /Financial Ombudsman – LTSB £11,715.84

I have received a reply from the Woolwich after having got as far as sending the letter in step 4.
They are claiming that their Terms and Condititons clearly explain the details of their charges.
They kindy suggest that ' you may ultimately be eligible to refer to the Financial Ombudsman Service.' They have also given me Eight weeks to reply. They will be hearing from me before then!;)
I intend to start court proceedings, is there anything more I should try first?

Simply -no
Start court proceedings now - you have given them the chance to sort it out and they are simply trying to buy more time to tell you later on ( 8 weeks time ) to fob off
Give-it-a-goLloyds TSB - £1979 thank you
Bank of Scotland - £650 awaiting court date0 -
Hi Not sure if i am doing this right but here goes....I have claimed £616 from the woolwich. After following steps 1 & 2 of Martin's template letters they offered me £348. I refused and eventually started court process via MCOL. The bank filed an acknowledgment and had until 25 June to file a defence. Things were looking hopeful for me until i checked on the claim on 20 June, only to discover that Woolwich/Barclays have filed a defence and MCOL can no longer deal with the claim so it will be going to my local court. I am really worried now, it seems far more 'real' than it did before. I am waiting for the questionaire from the court and a court date. Has anyone else got to court against the Woolwich and, if so, how did it go?0

Thanks for that cat!
Was there a particular dept. you called to 'chase up' your claim? Would be handy to know who to speak to

Am I the only person in the UK who hasn't claimed bank charges?
It seems everyone is doing it.
My husband & I have solo bank accounts. He wouldn't have much to reclaim (hes good with money:rolleyes: ). I have paid bank charges now & again (I'm not so good:o ).
I'm worried that IF I tried they will close down my bank account. I was with the Woolwich but now I'm with Barclays (the takeover thingy). My husband is with the Abbey.
Both of us have been with our bank for a good while.
If we were going to claim them, would we be advised to open new current accounts first?
I keep telling hubby to open one with Barclays, Lloyds or Alliance & Leicester anyway as you can pay money into those three via the post office counter & it would save me having to drive 7/8 miles to his bank & pay to park to pay money in (hes a cab driver:rolleyes: ).
So if we were to do it would we have to open new accounts first?
Would it be worth him doing it at all?
Any advice on which one to go with from the above three?0 -
Read Martin's article, you'll find all the information and links to best bank accounts etc in the article and check the Budgeting and Current Account board for bank account details.
