Woolwich Bank Charges (merged)

I've found a really helpful website Tracey - https://www.reclaimunfaircharges.com. There's a forum on there and it's dedicated to this subject.
I'm still completely lost with it all0 -
Hello everyone,
My story so far... Have put in 1st letter to Woolwich asking for refund of charges and 3 weeks later had a reply saying "because of complex nature ... being referred to Head Office (HO being Barclays). Immediately sent 2nd letter to Barclays (copied to Woolwich) giving them 14 days before court action.
Have today (5 days later) received letter from Barclays saying they are unwilling to refund charges because when account is opened customer is provided with copy of T&C relating to the use of their a/c.
This seems a different tack to what anybody else has had so far.
I will give them their 14 days which takes it to 14th June and then apply to the court. I will of course update everybody then!
Keep posting - it's all helpful!0 -
Ok so I got a court date today for september and I started this battle with the woolwich back in december 06!! Decided to go for it and telephone Barclays litigation! was so nervous was shaking, don't know why because
Spoke to some very pleasant guys!! Bloke dealing with my case sounded exhausted! said hes dealing with settling cases for this month said he's very very busy, but he wants to settle my case out of court and said he'd write me a letter offering full settlement this week!!!
I just hope he means it!!! :j :j0 -
Thanks Carolina.
Do you happen to have that phone number handy and perhaps a name.
Don't fancy waiting another three months if I can help it.:beer:0 -
Hello
I was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else? I sent my letter (template from this site) requesting my statements for the last 6 years along with my cheque for £10 on the 02/06/07.
Today I received a letter saying that they will be fully investigating the issues I have raised and they will get back to me by 06/07/07 with an answer. They returned the £10 cheque and said nothing about the statements that I requested.
Is this usual?
Thank you!0 -
Riggsy if you call 0207 116 6842 there is probably no point in me giving you a name because you will have your own case owner. When you call they will give you their name and extension!
Good luck.:beer:0 -

That's exactly what they did with me. They will send you a list of your charges, not your statements. I found the Woolwich to be really easy to deal with, started my claim on 10th April and have just settled at over £4,000; wish the TSB were as straightforward!!
I've found that if you call the Woolwich, they are really helpful and do tend to stick to the dates they give you. Even though they sometimes expect a bit longer, it's worth it in the long run to keep them sweet.

I sent my letter to Woolwich last thursday accepting the offer of £1260.00. Normally they stick to the ten days that they state when putting any bank charges back into the account. I have been checking my account online every day as I'm very short of cash this month. Today my balance had increased - the money is there!!!!!!
This is fantastic news as its earlier than expected. However, it is shown as being put in on the 11th (which was monday) and it was definitely not there that day - it proves they can mess around with our accounts which has somewhat saddened me even though I can now pay off a large chunk of a debt and use some money to start a small ebay business.

Can anyone offer any advise. Went overdrawn by £2.00 with the Woolwich and as it did not have any overdraft facility I found within a month I had £120of charges added for account fees and refused direct debit, which is now cancelled. I wrote claiming a refund of these charges.
Received a letter back stating that as a goodwill gester they would refund the charges. At the same time received another statement with the £120 credited but another £167.69 added on as chages. Immediately wrote another letter demanding closure of the account and stated that as well as the £120 would expect a refund of the £167.69 as this is more charges they have added to an account that is not even being used now, and the only reason it is in debit is because of these charges they keep added on.
Today received a letter stating they are unable to offer any further refunds. The reason my account has not been closed is "because it is currently overdrawn by £167.69 and you have £50.59 pending charges still to debit".
Not sure where to go now. Should I pay the £218.28 (which I dont have and will have to borrow) so the account can be closed and they won't add anymore charges, and then write saying I am taking them to count. Or should I just write now saying if I don't get a full refund within 10 days I am starting court proceeding, and hope for the best. I am getting worried as the charges are just growing.
Any advise would be welcome, thank you.0
