help
can anyone tell me if i would be able to claim back a debit card transaction fee from the woolwich
i think this was charged when i made a purchase on my debit card and it was in overdrawn
thanks
Personally I dont think so sorry. Its a fee charged for the convenience of using the card and would be classed as a service fee. If anyone else can contradict me and say you can claim it I will, of course, be happy for you0 -

Hi,
Please can somebody help / advise me as to what I should do now?
As per a previous post of mine, Woolwich were getting nasty as they wanted me to repay my overdraft (which is made up purely of bank charges, and which I cannot afford to repay just now).
Well, today, I have received a letter from them (via Barclays) saying that they have now passed my account to Equidebt to pursue the overdraft balance. All future correspondance must be sent to Equidebt.
I did write to them about a month ago stating that despite their threats they would not get their money back until I had got mine back, but this does not seem to have stalled them, and now I a VERY scared.
By the way, my court date is on 26th June (I am now also pretty nervous about that too).
Should I now just sit tight and wait, or shall I write to this Equidebt company telling them the same as I told Woolwich / Barclays before (i.e. when I get my money back, they can happily have theirs back)?
Also, my charges are still accruing at the rate of £3.00 per day at the moment, so when this is all over, will I then need to start a new claim to get them back too (I have been accruing them since January, so as you can imagine, they're stacking up)?
Any help / suggestions / previous experiences gratefully received.
Thanks

If the debt is made up of charges then tell whoever is chasing that it is in dispute. They can't harass you whilst this is being resolved.
Ensure you are fully prepared in your reclaim case by reading as much material as you can and obtaining yours Terms and Conditions for the account.0 -
Hi Nickmack,
Thanks ever os much for that - I'll do that and send them a letter. Also, will get swatting ready for my court date.If the debt is made up of charges then tell whoever is chasing that it is in dispute. They can't harass you whilst this is being resolved.

Hi
Just read your message about Woolwich.
I went through the whole process with Martin's letters and came out the other side.... they offered me 80% of my charges yesterday which I have accepted. They say they will credit the account within 10 days.
So far my new "Barclays" account seems unaffected but to be honest I don't like Barclays anyway and have opened a new account in case. I'm shifting the whole lot over as we speak.
Hope this helps0 -

As above I have success with Woolwich so go for it!0 -
Firstly, hello to you all
I am a newbie and would love to try this and claim back my charges like a lot of you have already done.
My current acc is with the woolwich. I know they used to be a building soc and not a bank.
They have now merged with Barclays.( does this mean that they are a bank now)
I looked on the help thread with all the addresses for me to send the first letter but there is no address for woolwhich.
Does this mean that i can't do it with them?
any advice would be welcomed please.
My experience may be of help to you. I wrote to the Bexleyheath head office of The Woolwich using the template letter and they sent me a print out of all charges for the past six years. I copied it over to the charges calculator and sent it off with the next letter on the template apge. I shoudl get my offer by next week (I decided to wait rather than pay to go to court after 14 days). My Woolcih account is a very old one and goes back 20 odd years to when it was a building society passbook. It has changed over the years as the Woolwich grew from being the Woolwich Equitable to being part of Barclays. My account is now a openplan account. I wish I could say that they are just as good as they were years back but they aren't!

Just telephoned the Woolwich to see what was happening with my claim as their letter stated I would be contacted by the 8th June (only 4 days away). Would you believe they cant help me and I must wait another four days? Surelyu allowing time for the psotal services they would have a figure for me by now!!!0

My charges claim with the Woolwich was due to be settled today. I also decided to wait rather than go through the courts. I phoned last Thursday and there was no information for me, but was told to expect a letter today and if it hadn't arrived to phone again. The letter didn't arrive so I phoned at lunchtime. Apparently a letter was posted to me on Friday and I have had an offer of £3063. As I am happy to accept that (it's 75%), we should be getting in back in the bank in the next 10 days.
Thank you Woolwich0
