    MPG,

Carolina reckons trying 02071166842 and 02071161943 is another one. Either way, have your claim number handy and you'll be given the name and number of your claim handler.
    Good Luck,

Hi, I started a claim against The Woolwich on Friday 15th, went straight to asking for my money back as i kept all my statements, anyway, recieved a letter this morning thanking me for taking the time and trouble to let them know about my dissatisfaction with their service.
Anyway they have said in the letter:
We would like to explain what happens next regarding your complaint, recieved on 19 June 2007.
We have taken responsibility for fully investigating the issues you have raised, and we aim to resolve this matter by 17th July 2007. This takes it to another month. Is this right? Is this a standard reply? Has anyone else recieved a letter like this? What do i do now? Sit tight and wait? I aint got a clue, first time doing this.:o

The letters saying that they are investigating and will reply sometime between now and the next ice age are little more than acknowledgements of receipt and attempts to make you give up and go away.

Your first claim letter should give them 14 days to reply. If you have not received an acceptable reply by your deadline, send them the second “Letter Before Action” letter.

    Hi folks,

Well, got the standard '...we aim to resolve this matter by...' letter giving themselves 28 days to respond. After reading the posts on here, just wondering what you all thought about sitting tight until the date given in the letter?

I know some people have done this, and received an offer by the given date - or the other option is to stick to the '14 days' timetable as stated in the standard letter - what do you all think?

If anyone has any comments, I'd be happy to hear them :)

    Cheers,

Digital TV, Broadband & Phone requirements - around £50 pm saved !
Don't let them Estimate! Gave Powergen a 'real reading' & got £122.16 back that I'd overpaid!
Mortgage Exit fee - £100 received from the Halifax - for just a phone call!
Woolwich - received £3,845 refund of bank charges :)

    Hi Shev,

    Snap! :) lol

I had read a few posts where people had done just that, and been given an offer by the date stated in the letter, so I'm thinking it may be worth a try...

Of course, I could always send another letter after 14 days giving them 'another' 14 days (which would equal their time scale) - a reminder wouldn't hurt I guess.

Mind you, if I haven't had an offer by the end of the 28 days, I'll be on the phone to give 'em an earful.. and tell 'em that I'm going to take 'em to court!

So let's hope they play nice ;)

    Cheers

  • I wrote a letter to the woolwich 7th April asking for Detailed charges for the last 6 years, they did this free of charge and replied to my letter on the 10th May. I found my account had £680.00 charges and My wife £1775.On the 14th of may I wrote back with Martins letter They sent a letter back stating thet they would contact me before 27 June. Today (21st)I had a letter from Barclays Bank offering me £485 and my wife £1310 the moneies will be put into my account within 10 days of accepting thier offer. This equals 75% of the total requested, am I going to accept it? reminds me of deal or no deal, my box for theirs. mmmm tough one theirs another £600 in the pot.what do you think?
  • ironic really 75% of me says take it the other 25% Fight on, I think the Banker has made me a good offer.
  • hi web Wiz,What is that Mortgage exit fee? £100 received?Mr-squad

    Hi Mr-Squad,

    Right, in order:

    1) The mortgage exit fee -

give this article a read : http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/mortgage-fees - worked for me.

    2) Can't say I'm a fan of Mr Edmunds' televisual financial extravaganza (see answer 3)

    3) Your Woolwich offer -

It seems as though quite a few people are getting the 75% offer, personally, if I get a similar offer within the stated timescales (yours seems a bit over 28 days though?) then I'll go for it. The extra effort involved to take the case to court etc doesn't seem worth the 25% I'd gain - I imagine this is what the banks are hoping we think! ;)

Look at it this way 75% of a figure you didn't know you'd be in with a chance of getting until you wrote to the bank for a couple of letters? Seems a fair deal to me, and as long as people still ask for it back, it will still show the banks we won't leave them alone.

I must stress, this is my own personal view, and should not be taken as an instruction! - unless you think the same way, in which case - go for it :)
