Hi folks,
Just wanted to tell you all my claim is under way!
First letter on it's way today to the Woolwch (or Barclays whichever they are these days). Claiming just over £5000, but I'd be happy with 75% of that! (we have a 'new addition' to the family due in October, & money is going to be tight).
I'll keep you all updated as the claim proceeds, and would just like to say a big thanks to Martin & all the forum users who have been answering my questions - couldn't have got this far with out you
Cheers,
Web_wizDigital TV, Broadband & Phone requirements - around £50 pm saved !
Don't let them Estimate! Gave Powergen a 'real reading' & got £122.16 back that I'd overpaid!
Mortgage Exit fee - £100 received from the Halifax - for just a phone call!
Woolwich - received £3,845 refund of bank charges0 -

Spoke to some very pleasant guys!! Bloke dealing with my case sounded exhausted! said hes dealing with settling cases for this month said he's very very busy, but he wants to settle my case out of court and said he'd write me a letter offering full settlement this week!!!
I just hope he means it!!! :j :j
Hi Carolina,
Wondering if you have a telephone number for Barclays litigation? Fancy some negotion with the tired old chap myself.
Thanks, MPG0 -
A few weeks back i sent the 2nd letter to Woolwich asking for my money back after reviewing my bank charges which they sent me.
Today i received a letter which in a nutshell just says that they're taking my complaint seriously and they aim to have it resolved in 1 month!!
Now in Martin's Step by Step - there is no mention of this type of letter - just either a refusal, acceptance or partial offer....mine is none of these?
So what do i do now...send the 3rd letter or wait.....!
Thanks

The letter you got is very common, it is a stalling tactic. Ignore it and send the next letter.Reclaimed thanks to this site:
£175 Abbey Mortgage Repayment Fee, £170.03 Capital One Bank Charges £418.07 Lloyds TSB Bank Charges, £2,671.55 Mis-sold Endowment Policy, all for OH0 -

The letters saying that they are investigating and will reply sometime between now and the next ice age are little more than acknowledgements of receipt and attempts to make you give up and go away.
If you have not received an acceptable reply by your deadline, send them the “Letter Before Action” letter. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
thanks. i have just printed off the letter you have mentioned now ready for posting0

I'd be grateful for any advice on my ongoing "battle" with Woolwich/Barclays.
I wrote them on March 30th requesting a list of my fees on both an old and existing account. They sent me a letter on April 13th saying that they were dealing with my request. I finally heard from them on May 21st, but the list of fees they sent me was blatantly incomplete. In addition, they enclosed a rather snooty letter saying that when I opened the account I had agreed to the terms and conditions (i.e. I'd agreed to them fleecing me!)
I wrote back to them on May 24th requesting a full list of fees but, to date, have had no response. What is (or should be) my next move?0 -

If you haven't received all the information you require within 40 days of them receiving your Subject Access Request, you can refer the matter to the Information Commissioner.
However, his staff are as inundated with complaints as the banks’ and credit card companies’ are with SAR’s. The banks and credit card companies have received so many "black marks", that one more doesn't make any difference.
