Woolwich Bank Charges (merged)

Just got off of the phone to the Woolwich after 15 minutes on hold....
Lady on the end tells me that even though I have given them 14 days they are by law allowed 20 working days to deal with my complaint...
Would you advise that i carry on with my next step once the 14 days that I gave them are up or are they right?0 -
My husband and I  are taking the woolwich/barclays to court for three accounts between us, approx 10k in total charges, the woolwhich offered us approx 1.5k as a goodwill jesture which we did not reply to as there was only an acceptance part on the letter and no refusal part. they did not get a reply so had done nothing else with it thinking we have forgotten our claim. on the 4.4.07 we put a claim in at court. today we received correspondance from the court saying the papers were served by 15/4/07. woolwich/barclays have until the 30/4/07 to reply.
Has anyone out there had or is in a similar situation.0 -
This is my first post, so please be gentle with me.
I have requested to The Woolwich for the amount I want repaid and am currently awaiting their response. I was wondering if anyone else has tried to reclaim money from The Woolwich and wondered how they got on.

Has anyone had any experience with the Woolwich regarding claiming bank charges? My son sent off the template letter along with a £10 cheque for copies of his statements. The Woolwich returned the cheque saying there was no need to pay. They have sent him a printed page of what they say are the charges but not full statements as was requested. They have put a value down as just over £1500. My question is: should he write back and acccept the amount or are they trying to pull the wool over his eyes when in fact the figure is much higher ?0

If I have read this right are you saying aswell as getting your print out of charges they also made you an offer at the same time? Or are you just reading the bottom where it totals up your charges?
I find it very strange that they would offer you a settlement just for asking for your bank charges printout...0 -

This doesn't sound like an offer of payment if it's just a list/spreadsheet of the charges applied to the account (including details of each charge) with the total amount at the end. I've had one too from the Woolwich and I've got to say my charges were way above what I'd estimated them to be so I personally have no reason to believe they're trying to pull the wool over his eyes. However, they are part of Barclays...... I sent a preliminary letter of request for refund of the charges and included a copy of what they'd sent me. Waiting to send LBA as I'm sure I'll have to...:mad:0 -
Sorry it's taken so long to update you but I've been away.
MSS, you were right. I kept trying for a judgement by default but They were allowed to acknowledge on 16th April (I assume the two Bank Holidays added to 14 make the 16) so now we wait some more.

Woolwich acknowledged by claim today, they only had til sunday.. im gutted.. now another 28 days.. this is a joke!!!
i started this first week of december! and now its nearly may!!!!!!
Im really cross that they can take the micky like this.
Can anyone tell me the most likely outcome now they have acknowledged?
will they wait the 28 days before disputing the claim?
How much longer could this poss go on!? Why do Woolwich seem to be the worst bank to deal with :-(0 -

Hi,
I am claiming back from the Woolwich, and have a "pre-trial review" on 28th June - I still haven't got to the bottom of why a review is necessary, so if anybody else has any light to shine on this, then please do ...
It sounds like it might be drawing things out, and I now just want it all over and done with ...
Anyway, the account in question I am claiming from is now overdrawn because of all the charges Woolwich lumped on it at the end of 2006 and early into 2007 (when I started my claim), and so far, I have kept them at bay with letters each time they have contacted me to get their money back.
However, I have today received a letter from them stating that they are terminating my account, and I have 14 days to pay them their money back (yikes)
I am planning to write and say that I am not prepared to pay them anything until after my hearing, but am a bit worried that they will take further action.
The truth of the matter is, the account is £600 overdrawn with charges and I can't afford to pay it all back now. Should I offer them a small repayment do you think, or shall I just write saying that they'll get their money from me WHEN they pay me mine back - I am claiming £2900 from them!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help ...
(I am reluctant to pay them anything yet, as they have been absolute pig's in all of this ...)
