So I don't have to pay the £10 then?

No. All you had to do is offer it as the Data protection request carries a maximum fee of £10. Some banks return this and provide you the info free of charge - and thats about the only charity you'll get from Barclays.

I sent my letter off to Woolwich, as per the template on this site. They owe me loads, as at one point I was paying £200 a month in bank fees.

Well today I had a letter, enclosing a customer care brouchure, returning my £10 cheque, stating :

"We have taken responsibility for fully investigating the issues you have raised and we aim to provide you with an answer by 30 April 2007"

So they didn't get our statements. Are they pulling a fast one? Do they think, 'she doesn't know how much we owe her, we'll give her a figure and she'll go away' ? Or is it just a standard letter? Anyone else get their cheque back?

It's just a standard letter they send out (we actually got two when we sent our cheque off!). Sent the letter on the 5th March, and recieved statements a couple of days ago. We also had our cheque returned.

They will sendyour statements to you, it just may take a while. Make sure you know when the 40 days are up though (40 calendar days, not working days), and if you haven't recieved them ny then, give them a call. Re-read Martin's article for your plan of action, and good luck x

Sending my LBA for £405 first thing Monday :-)

    Riggsy1367 v Woolwich

Having thought about the offer of £6800 from Barclays over the weekend I've decided to turn it down and go for the full amount (£8789.50).
    I know Martin may say it's £6800 I didn't have rather than almost £2000 I'm missing but....
I'm already at MCOL stage and figure I can wait a bit longer.

    Absolutely correct, its your dosh.

I love this site but my opinion is that Martins advice is incorrect. i.e never send interest spreadsheet with LPA (first letter) only issue this when filing your claim.

    Why settle for less??

Just had my list of charges back and I'm about to tot them up and I'm a little confused. When sending my letter back telling them how much I am claiming do I send the figure with the interest added or just the flat figure that they total up to?

    Thanks in advance guys...

The choice is yours. There are two versions of the template letter, one asking for just the charges and the other including interest.
It has been suggested that claiming interest could be used as a bargaining chip.
    Good Luck.

From what I can gather, won't the courts award you the 8% interest anyway if you end up having to go?
My LBA included interest, no harm in asking, even if they do say no and only refund the charges. If you don't ask, you don't get....

    Thanks guys/gals..

Letter is already to go back requesting that £3080.65 should be paid back to me. I see a few people have used different addresses to send this letter back to could someone who has been successful please confirm for me which address they posted to...?

    Thank you again..
  • Hi,

I followed the steps and eventually issued court proceedings.

Woolwich then offered to refund all my charges (only £85) bu refuse to pay my £30 costs.

    What should I do?

Can I let this go to Court? or will they say they made an acceptable offer?
