MCOL issued claim today. The countdown begins!
Hi....I just sent my letter before action, to Jackson House and a copy to Barclays Head office in London although technically I am still dealing with Woolwich. What address did you put on your MCOL? Are you still dealing with Woolwich or have you been moved to Barclays in respect of your claim?

I will be filing on MCOL on 9th April if I dont hear from them by then.

Thanks and good luck with your cause!

    Hi MSS,
Got bumped to Barclays quite early on but thanks to these posts it was expected.
I put Woolwich as defendant using 1 Churchill Place address.
    Good Luck.:T

  • Hello Everyone this is my first post. After reading this forum for a few days now , myself and my girlfreind decided to start claiming our charges back.

My Girlfreind on 27th of this month phoned the Woolwich and asked for her statements for the last six years, she was told that she could have a statement of her Charges for the 6 years and that they would be with her within 21 days. Today the 29th she has recieved a standard " we are looking into your complaint" letter and that they would reply to her by the 26th of April. There was no mention in the letter about the statement or one being sent.

My Girlfreind and I are now confused about this and are not sure which course of action to take next ?

any help would be appreciated !!

    thanks
  • hello welsh champ, dont worry about receiving this letter, it is their standard one that they send out within 2 days to everyone. Just stick to your original plan. Hopefully your statements will be with you soon, just keep an aye on the calender. Good luck to you and your girlfriend.
    Halifax- settled £1800 (spent)
    Woolwich settled £505 (spent)
    Capital 1- settled £1345 after defending on mcol (aw:j :j :j
  • Hello fellow Woolwich claimants

Just to let you know that today was the final day for the Woolwich to get back to me from the original date quoted in their first reply to my initial 1st letter. On my return from work I have found a letter offering to settle for £1260 (I was claiming £1290). I can't believe it was so easy. My thanks to all of you who have post regular updates. My settlement is going toward paying off my overdraft and also my credit card bill which I never thought that I would be able to do.

    My timeline was as follows:

    1st letter sent 28th February
Reply received stateing that they would hope to resolve my complaint by the 29th March
2nd letter sent after time stipulated by Martin and his team
Received today in the post offer for £1260.

Here's hopeing all goes well for the rest of you.
  • congrats cornish pastie, well done. I telephoned Woolwich in the morning to say i would be accepting their offer, posted written acceptance later that day, and money appeared in my account next day, sometime after about 4pm.

  • Hi,

Started claim with Woolwich end of Feb over the phone.

Recieved acknowledgment of complaint claim on 1/3/07

Have recieved offer of settlement today 28/3/07

Question: Has anyone been succesfull in negociating a higher settlement amount with the customer relations manager over the phone?

Also does it take the full 10 days for the amount to show in your account?

Any help with these answers would be gratefully appreciated.

Just an idea but what if their was a payment facility on this site to send a £1 donation to Martin's ( or forum's nominated) fav charity each time a bank charge claim was succesfull and paid?
Using the banks money to make life even better!!

Thanks for the reply refundmeplze! , just one more question , How long do we need to wait before we question why the statements havent arrived ? I am thinking of calling them again and asking why was there no mention of the statements in the letter ??

    Thanks again
  • hello welsh champ. They do have 40 days to send you the statements, although mine arrived after a couple of weeks. If you want to call them to ask how long then just go ahead- it wont do any harm. here is timescale for my woolwich claim:
19/02/06-phoned woolwich requested statements, told 7-10 days.
21/02/06- standard letter of complaint arrived
02/03/07-phoned woolwich customer relations, said wheres my statments (phone no: 01255477032)told will arrive by 19/03/07
14/03/07- statements arrived amount owed £645, also offer for £505
15/03/07- decided to accept offer, they had not included any refunds(I know I have had several, after ringing up at the time and complaining. so phoned them told them I was accepting offer, then put acceptance form in post
16/03/07- money appeared in account some time after 4pm! Very efficient!!!

Hope this helps! Go for it. refundmeplze!
