But had a ca. 4 miles walk with a puschair(and a toddler in) this morning so that will do...
Haven't been very good though with food as had some ice cream after lunchCouldn't resist... Must train my willpower or not have anything naughty in the house(quite hard as my OH tries to fatten up and there is sometimes something at work so I must learn how to resist temptation...)
And I also have another question(mainly to Eric but any help is welcome):
is there a difference between low carb and low GI diet? if yes which do you recon works better?
also any good informative websites about those? TIA
"enablers" are a real problem and probably the hardest thing to deal with, some partners even feed there OH's subconsciously to make them less attractive to the opposite sex. All you can do is explain to them the situation, and make there life a living hell if they continue to tempt you
low GI and low carb are 2 strings to a similar bow.
Extreme low carb diets are aiming to get you into heavy ketosis, which is where you switch your primary body fuel from sugar to fat by making ketones. In history several cultures have lived 100% carb free diets. However its not easy to do in a modern environment and difficult to sustain in the long term, it can also have some minor side affects such as carb withdrawal flu for the first few weeks, stinky breath and constipation.
low GI is where the dieter simply only eats very slow release sugars to avoid insulin spikes, which should control carb cravings and stop insulin levels getting high enough to prevent fat burning.
what i recommend is a mix of the two which is often refereed to a "modified paleo diet" where we eat similar foods to those that our ancestors would have eaten but ones that are available in a modern context, we eat carbs but to a reduced amount (about 100g a day) mostly from plants and a little fruit which should all be slow release low GI, this should avoid the side affects of a very low carb diet but make sure insulin is not causing carb cravings or blocking fat burning and the higher protein levels should help stop hunger cravings and help reduce the risk of lean muscle loss, it also gives you a good amount of fibre in the diet.
one important think to take into consideration is that you will be able to relax this a little bit once in maintenance, we are aiming for the optimum level of carbs to promote maximum weight loss but also that's at a level that's sustainable long term until we reach our goals.0 -

Eric - When are you off to the bod pod again ? I am almost tempted to see if there is one near me as I think you mentioned before that the analyser scales count your excess skin as fat is that correct? How close were your scales to the bod pod results ?
initially i was thinking about august, but not being able to train for 10 weeks because of my shoulder injury has put me back along way
it will probably take me a few more weeks of STS to settle back into the resistance training so i may go in September i will have to see how i am doing
ironically the last time i did a bodpod my scales gave exactly the same readings, but i think this was just blind luck, since i stopped resistance training they have been saying my bodyfat % has been going up  but i am noticeably thinner and i suspect this is just the loss of water retention from not being "pumped" from the lack of weight training, which is also why i stay STS for a bit now that i have restarted as this water gets put back into the muscle.0 -

its really important to stretch and warm up before exercise and to cool down properly afterwards. The pains could simply be your muscles grumbling after being used to a lack of use. It normally takes 2-3 weeks for your body to start to get into a rhythm for exercise.
there are lots of videos on youtube on how to stretch and warm up for different exercise types.
its important when you start to exercise after a long break to build it up slowly and to have plenty of rest to allow the muscles to recover.
after my break from weight training my first session was only 20% of what i would normally do and i then had a 6 day rest for my muscles to recover and stop aching, the next session was at 50% and i had a 5 day rest, the next was 75% and a 4 day rest. I am now at 95% and a 2 day rest. I listened to my body (stiffness) and worked back into is slowly.

eric you didn't answer me;):D
Or me!
Well this will be me today --> :j (working out!), set myself the goal of burning 500 cals through exercise today. Really need to up the exercise a bit as I've been getting a bit lazy lately. I'm quite active during the day, but don't have many set exercise sessions.0 -
Okay, I'll give it a try - please could I be included on the chart for 5lb loss per month?0

Hello, Misstamsilakanwal, if you've never taken any exercise before your legs are going to hurt, depending on what you did and how inactive you were to start with.
Adding sugar to tea is a sure-fire way of adding unnecessary calories. Try one of the proprietary sweeteners, but not the ones that contain aspartame.
If you're going to start exercising from a very sedentary life, then start gently. Try walking round the block, for a start. Then try walking a bit quicker and a bit further.
Vixarooni, you're right, we knew little about food 60 years ago and, for most people, it was a question of getting enough food rather than too much/wrong kinds. The big difference was activity. People walked or cycled. Few people had cars. Normal life had enough activity built into it. If you think of the 'paleo' diet, people way way back, our remote ancestors in fact, would have used up as much energy searching for food and preparing it as they gained in energy when they'd eaten it.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.
