Bad weather day where I am located too so it is indoor cycling for me i.e. sat here doing odd jobs whilst pedalling. No idea yet about any weight loss but my initial progress seems to be slipping away?
I will be jumping on the bike too in about an hour! Well done with your efforts, one thing to speed up your progress, don't do odd jobs/ read books etc when on the bike, chuck on some motivational tunes and work on intervals. It will get you fitter in the long run if you stay focused! Can always do 2 mins hard then 5 mins recovery to start!!!!0 -
I was reading about Dean Karnazes, Ultramarathon Man in the metro newspaper this morning. Very inspiring. Apparently, he even pees and sleeps whilst running as he can run 75 days without stopping. He gets pizzas delivered to the side of the road and eats whilst running :eek:
Makes my workout look like a cool down to him :rotfl:SECRET TO WINNING PRIZES:

trigirl1979 - Thanks for your encouragement; much appreciated. Yes I have noticed that certain music "makes" me ride even faster. I suppose your idea would be more effective as indoor biking never seems as taxing as outdoor.
Matryoshka - I'll have a read about the runner. I thought the channel 5 programme (2 parts) about a man walking the length of the Amazon also interesting.0 -
Eric, what do you think of Dean Karnazes, Ultramarathon Man's advise :eek::rotfl:
http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/15.01/ultraman.html4. EAT JUNK – LOTS OF IT
You wouldn't believe the stuff Karnazes consumes on a run. He carries a cell phone and regularly orders an extra-large Hawaiian pizza. The delivery car waits for him at an intersection, and when he gets there he grabs the pie and rams the whole thing down his gullet on the go. The trick: Roll it up for easy scarfing. He'll chase the pizza with cheesecake, cinnamon buns, chocolate !clairs, and all-natural cookies. The high-fat pig-out fuels Karnazes' long jaunts, which can burn more than 9,000 calories a day. What he needs is massive amounts of energy, and fat contains roughly twice as many calories per gram as carbohydrates. Hence, pizza and !clairs. When he's not in the midst of some record-breaking exploit, Karnazes maintains a monkish diet, eating grilled salmon five nights a week. He strictly avoids processed sugars and fried foods – no cookies or doughnuts. He even tries to steer clear of too much fruit because it contains a lot of sugar. He believes this approach – which nutritionists call a slow-carb diet – has reshaped him, lowering his body fat and building lean muscle. It also makes him look forward to running a race, because he can eat whatever he wants.

Don't know if it was reading about Dean Karnazes - Ultramarathon Man or because I didn't take my lunch in to work today as had training off-site so ate jazz, or a combination of both, I decided to slot in an Insanity DVD just now. Pure Cardio from Month 1. Seemed relatively easy 'cos Month 2 workout kicks butt :rotfl:(Already done a workout this morning).
So anyway, Fred, I'm logging in (again) today:
Pure Cardio - 38 minutes :jSECRET TO WINNING PRIZES:

Eric and other low-carbers - what do you eat for lunch?
I need something that I can take to work with me, that is cheap and low effort. At work I have a fridge, a microwave, a kettle and a toaster.
I am really stuck for healthy lunch ideas
Cheers!0 -
