Reserved a car at Autoquake

Any advise would be much appreicated.

I reserved a car last week at Autoquake and paid £100. We didn't go ahead and buy the car. We were promised that our bank account would be refunded with the £100 but we are still waiting. I have looked on their website tonight to give them a ring to chase them up and they have gone into administration. I rang the number and there is a pre recorded message. No advice etc.

What can I do? Have I kissed goodbye to £100.

Many thanks

You have become a creditor and need to register the debt with the administrators in which case I fear the odds do not favour you.

If you cleverly gave your deposit by credit card then get on to your card company.

There's an MSE Article which will help you out with this:-

Administration Help: Reclaim your cash from companies

When a firm goes bust it is placed in Administration. This is a clear and simple explanation of how it all works, where you are in the pecking order of who gets their money back, and how to make the best of your chances of recovering your own money

    HTH Good luck.

Being one of the 150+ staff that have just lost our jobs, you're actually one of the few people who will come out smiling! As bad as the reviews on these forums are, Autoquake really weren't bad towards customers!

Your £100, as well as everyone elses has been refunded, although it will take up to 5 working days for this to show in your account.

My couple of grand, however, is stuck with the administrators, and will not be paid into my account this month!

Saw the first one and the antennae quivered! Two is some indeterminate number too many :)

Really?! Most of the complaints were for lousy timekeeping. Customer turns up at the appointed time and sits waiting in a portacabin for an hour or so. That's taking the pish in my book.

I agree last summer there were delays but this was remidied as this was a learning curve for the business.

Some people were delayed due to other customers not adhering to their appointment times and thus having a knock on effect to other customers also some customers turned up early so yes they would've had to wait to be seen until their allotted appointment time yet they still said they were kept waiting over an hour. In some instances the staff were having to juggle two appointments at a time.

On many occasions the customer facing staff never had a lunch due to this and worked over and above their contracted hours for no extra pay. Last Thursday was a very sad day for a lot of employees who have worked tremondously hard to make the business work and I commend them for all their hard work and effort and wish them all the best for the future!

And yes I am an ex employee and Autoquake is not, was not as bad as some people make out!!
