Reserved a car at Autoquake

I'm not using the car as an example, just customer service. I honestly think a lot of people out there have unrealistic expectations with regards to customer service. If you want to buy a car (and I stress, not a shed) two or three grand cheaper than a traditional dealer then you cannot expect red carpet treatment.0

TBH - the Autoquake customer service experience was spot on for me
I like a - no nonsense - sort of approach & really hate the 'suited & booted' smarmy, sycophantic salesmen method you tend to get at car dealers0 -
I miss Alcan's posts!
Please understand that all ex AQ employees feel terrible about the warranty situation - it was absolutely not our decision and was sold in good faith at the time. I know it's a bitter pill to swallow.0 -
Speaking of alcan, do any of you ex-Autoquake peeps know anything about the guy? Was he a genuinely disgruntled customer or a rival with an ulterior motive? I could not help but think his posts were so far fetched he could only have been a rival on a smear campaign?0

The company is in administration and is being run by MCR. The company, as you put it, does not exist anymore, we are all redundant! Sorry we can't help, but we are all at the job centre trying to pay our mortgages. Try googling MCR and writing to them - chatting on the phone won't cut it with hard nosed administrators, they need evidence in writing...good luck!0 -
I received a letter from MCR yesterday. Maybe if you hang on a day or two?0

For what it's worth, I had no problem at all with my treatment during the buying process. I was seen about 20 minutes late, but was advised of this, got free coffee and a perfectly comfortable waiting room. Staff courteous and knowledgeable; they asked me about warranty/finance/GAP insurance but there was no hard sell. I took the warranty because it seemed reasonable value and I thought it was offered by Car Care Plan - I'm slightly peeved about that but it's hardly the salespeople's fault!
For others in the same position as me: I'm drafting a letter to my bank about Visa chargeback. Let me know if you'd like to use it to help draft yours (I know there's a template on the site, but I don't think it quite covers the complexity of our situation). I'll keep you informed of progress - fingers crossed at least some of us get success!0 -
I bought a BMW from AQ 18 months ago and took a took a two year warranty for aprox £400.
I have had letter from MCR today.
Luckily for me I have already had a warranty claim for over £400 so I feel as I have had my money back.
As for buying from AQ, I got about £1500 off my car and although I had to wait a long time when I went to pick it up it was worth it.
I have been looking at their site over the last couple of weeks with a view to getting a new one, a bit upset its gone!0 -
Just got the letter from MCR regarding my 3 year warranty.
When I purchased the car in September 2010 I did an HPI check. It came up with "Unit Stocking" finance on it. I was told by the HPI company as long as I get an letter from AQ stating that the finance will be cleared within a couple of days after buying the car. I should be ok to proceed to purchase the car. When I mentioned the results of my HPI check when I viewed the car they told me they will provide me an letter stating this. I didn't have to ask for it.
Im worried did AQ actually pay off the finance on the car? I got the details of the leasing company so I will ring them on Monday just be in the safe side.
When i purchased the car I paid the entire cost via my First Direct Credit Card and arranged for a personal loan with Tesco Personal Finance to settle the balance on the card. Thus transferring the debt to the personal loan.
I take it its First Direct I need to chase up to get the money back on my warranty on the car? I did ring them but they told me to claim of the administrators but reading the guide on here. There little chance of getting any money off them.
Anyway im going to wait until Monday just to check of the outstanding finance that I found when I purchased the car is actually cleared. If is then I will call First Direct again and politely ask for the warranty cash to to be refunded to me. What should I do if the outstanding finance is not cleared? My understanding Unit Stocking finance is used by car dealers to stock their cars up and they are used for short term finance ie 60 days. Afterwhich the car is sold at an auction if the dealer doesnt sell the car after the alloted finance period. Is this all correct?
On the warranty I think I claimed about £400 quid off it so it nearly paid itself off but I still want it back0
