The Great Stripper Issue
Comments

"And if that is not the issue, why make such an issue out of it? So they look, so they get smashed and so they will smile and laugh and pretend in front of the rest of the blokes that it is great... "
Because that is the province of peer-led 15 year olds who are too scared of "what their mates might think" and not the action of a grown man capable of making his own decisions and seeing how hideous that sort of activity is, the exploitation, the pathetic "male bonding" that so many inadequate men seem to think is so important.
If a couple have utterly opposing opinions on things like strip shows/!!!!!! etc. the problem will only get worse over time.
And it's absolutely nothing to do with being jealous, controlling, or any other word that is used to put women down when they object to such things."There is a light that never goes out"0 -
Out of curiousity is a male stripper being abused and objectified as much as people consider female strippers to be?
Honestly? I don't know if it is. I really haven't given a lot of thought to that side of things. If we go by the view that men and women are all completely equal then I would say yes the objectification is the same. however i am not of the view that men and women are the same. Men are usually viewed as dominant sexually. Like I said though, I haven't given it a lot of thought and these views are the first time I have considered it. I might change my mind when I have thought it through properly.0 -

That's the part I take issue with. If it's just a strip show, I don't have a problem (alright, I'm a little insecure, but I wouldn't complain to OH about it).
Have you ever seen/heard about a male stripper with women? We're talking full nudity lap dancing, licking cream off his todger and literally touching everywhere here. I think generally male strippers let the women go further than a female stripper would with men.
I think it's a step up from stage stripping but I think hiring a single stripper, having a lapdance and the activities you've named fall in the same category. People may disagree though.0 -
I agree with you, this is probably the reason as strippers earn a fortune. However can you accuse an industry of exploiting their employees because they pay them too much? That seems a really weird issue to raise. I wouldn't complain if my job wanted to pay me £500 for a nights work!
Well, yes, it is still exploitation. You're just exploiting their greed, or their financial situation.
I think it's still a bit of a null point though, if someone hated their job that much they'd leave regardless of the money. I think most people would rather be happy than rich.
I don't agree with this statement. I'm sure you would, which is why you think that everyone else would too, but we're all different and have different lives and issues to deal with.
Given a choice between stripping and not feeding my kids (if I had any), I'd probably choose stripping. But.....I'd also then be saving every spare penny in order to quit asap.
But, as georgie said, low self esteem comes into it too (for some).February wins: Theatre tickets0 -
It seems that however divergent people's views here are about what they themselves would do in this situation, nearly everyone agrees that this is the kind of thing couples should negotiate, and (if feelings are very strong and deep) be prepared to split up about.
I think that sums it up nicely.0 -
I thought back to another thread I read on here recently (not on this board, but in Discussion Time). I'm trying to find it! The OP was a man who had been looking at naked women online and commenting. Its amazing how different the responses were from on this thread, most felt he was in the wrong and had lots of making up to do to his OH! Just goes to show how different people's opinions are on this subject. I have no problem with strip clubs, in my eyes this is one step to far and I wouldn't be happy.:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

So if strippers were paid a regular wage would it be a more acceptable industry?0 -
"He is perfectly decent and a very good husband and father, so it's unfair of you to tar all men with the same brush. "
So he would be perfectly happy for his daughters to strip and do faux-lesbian sex shows to groups of drunken men would he, with the risk of being groped or even seriously sexually assaulted? Or is he one of those men for whom there are two types of women, i.e. wife and mother material or slag.
I don't believe that a man who would attend such an event is even a decent human being , let alone a good husband or father."There is a light that never goes out"0 -

I've never heard of that happening! Anyway it sounds horrible, I would be very uncomfortable having a strange man's dangly bits shoved in my face!
I personally think men and women get something very different from the experience. I think women see it as a laugh, I can't see them being aroused by a male stripper. I can't comment on what men think as I'm a women!:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

I've been to see one of those dreamguy type shows, and I've also seen a stripper who came to someone's house for their hen do.
There nudity in the first instance lasted only about 5 seconds, before they run off stage. In the latter instance, he didn't go completely naked. Whipped his thong off, but still hid his modesty with a hat.
There was certainly no full nudity lap dancing or licking cream off anyone's todger!
But, I will concede that they do encourage the women to rub baby oil over their chests. But that's it. Anything else will see you removed from the premises. In my experience anyway.
I don't know where you got these ideas from? Has any woman on the forum seen a strip show like that?

See above. I disagree. And besides, I've never had a guy perform a lapdance for me, and I wouldn't want to.
I don't like strippers or strip shows and have only ever been for hen do's.February wins: Theatre tickets0
