But what about all of those people who work normal jobs and hate them? How is that any different?
You should read Nickel and Dime: Not Getting By in America by Barbara Ehrenreich then you would see what real exploitation is - and it is all happening in industries that most would give legitimacy to.0 -

I am interested to know if the men on this thread would be happy for their daughter to do a job such as a live lesbian sex show? ie, would they discuss such work as a potential career, among other options?
Well I am a man and if I had a daughter and she decided that she wanted to pursue such a career path then I would consider that to be her choice. I've already conceded it wouldn't be my first choice but I would also take the position that I would have brought her up to be an individual and to make her own decisions and be free to choose her own path; I would consider myself a failure if I brought up a child to sheepishly agree with everything I said and only pursue a path that I wanted her to.0 -

Hating your non exploitative jobs is different in my opinion. And just because exploitation goes on in other areas does not take away from my opinion on other exploitation. Just because I am against sexual exploitation of women doesn't mean I don't give equal thought to other types of exploitation.0 -

Why wouldn't it be your first choice for her?February wins: Theatre tickets0 -

I think most of us are against sexual exploitation of women, however, what you consider to be exploitation and what actually is exploitation is not one and the same.
All of the girls who work legitimately in the adult entertainment industry are welcome to leave, just as all of the people who work jobs that they hate have that luxury to - the fact that they choose not to take it for one reason or another is not exploitation.0 -

No more 'happy' than I would be if my hypothetical daughter wanted to be a soldier.0 -
Some women need the money in these countries where benefits do not pay a fortune depending on how many kids you have and if you feel too depressed to ever work and would rather earn a weeks wages for a one hour lesbo show with perhaps 'extras' than a 40 hour week in a sweatshop with their dignity for company.
To original OP I would suggest you consider your forthcoming marriage and whether or not you wish to spend your married life on these boards with 'problems'. He has told you the facts of life so you either accept it or end it / suffer together.0 -

Because, I imagine like a lot of fathers, I'd want my daughter to somehow change the world. Those who work in the adult entertainment industry don't usually get to do that.
First choice or not though is irrelevant. I'd only disown her if she took a job for the British Board of Fascist Censorship0 -

I didn't say I wouldn't be. Read what I write, not what you think I mean.
The question you should be asking is whether it would make me unhappy, and as long as she did it of her own free-will then I would not be. That would be the same for any job.0
