OTT or what

  • I quite like the dress. It's a nice colour and I like the sleeves. I can totally see why OP would think it's too short for a wedding though and if it's that short on her SD I would agree it's not appropriate for a wedding.

I think the dress could be really nice for a wedding if it's below mid thigh length but it's something that would be easy to make look inappropriate with the wrong choice of accessories/shoes/makeup/hair. Leggings & flats would make it too casual and backcombed hair, platform stilettos and winged eyeliner would make it too tarty. I think it would be good with tidy shiny hair whether it's up or down, a smart not OTT necklace, natural coloured makeup, plain tights and heels. Bare legs might be fine on a hot day.

It's frustrating to see things being said like 'She's not your real daughter so you don't get a say'! Especially when other posters get berated for not treating biological children & step children exactly the same, or even just writing 'DD and DSS' instead of 'DD & DS'.

What's wrong with flats for a wedding? I never wear heels, can't walk in them for more than a few steps.

So I should get a pair of heels and fall over rather than be comfortable and able to walk. Seems strange to me.

Flats can be just as dressy as heels and better for all day wear.

It's a great dress, sorry they don't have it in my size! I agree with black tights and black heels it could look really nice.

I tend to go with flats too, usually good old Primark pumps if theres a suitable colour! As I go barefoot in church anyway, and barefoot to dance, I don't see the point in fancy shoes to walk from one to the other!

im 19 and a big busted girl too (size 14) so hardly on the large size either. i wouldnt wear it bere legged to a wedding ( or at all) and i can totally see why you are upset shes wanting to waer it the wedding is for your son and his bride the dont want all the guest to be looking at sd bum the whole wedding. i would suggest to her maybe a nice maxi dress? or a midi dress h&m do a really nice floral patterend dress for about £40.

btw im not a prude i just think its wrong that young girls like to flash the flesh infact i find its quiet gross and its not a very good image to protray to the younger family members either.

    good luck xx

I think you are making a mountain out of a molehill with this one OP, sorry.

I clicked the link expecting something really trashy but its not at all, could be quite sophisticated with tights and heels.

Also although you say you dont mean to be a biatch, your post was really catty sounding and hope you dont come across like that to your poor DSD. Teenagers can be very insecure at the best of times.
