Smile and enjoy the fragrance?0

It's a tart burner I have - similar to this style: http://www.theyankeeshop.co.uk/details.aspx?PID=30869
The candle goes underneath and warms the tartlet above it to melt - it was the melted wax that exploded, not the candle. Sorry if that wasn't clear enough at the post, was in a bit of a panic at the time..:(
Bought is to buy. Brought is to bring.0 -

I recall reading something that said if the wick on your tealight candle was a little long then it created a bubble pocket or something within the tart causing it to explode.
One heck of a mess though hun, I'd certainly send the photos to Yankee and have a moan.0 -
Yes - I would contact Yankee.
It's such a shame that you have to be so careful with candles when they should just be an enjoyable experience. I bought one of those candles that come in tins once (NOT a Yankee candle I hasten to add) and the wax caught fire. When I threw water on it to put it out (first thing I could think of at the time in my panicked state) a huge flame shot up a few feet before it went out. Lucky to still have my curtains (and my eyebrows!)! Just be careful everyone0 -
Have you seen the electric burners?
Seem like they may be a little safer for tart and oil burning? Fairly reasonable at £11.99 I thought as well.

I've never understood the fascination for candles. In the early part of the last century, most people's ambition was to live in a house with electricity, so they did not have to put up with the inconvenience of candles and paraffin lamps.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -

Probably because Yankee have nothing at all to do with lighting and everything to do with fragrance.
Candles for lighting purposes create an ambient mood, they look nice, warm and homely.0 -
Did the tart burner break? I wonder if it had maybe got knocked in transit and there was a crack that expanded when you lit the candle underneath it?0

Complain to YANKEE CANDLES and include the photo's also point out the extra damage it would have caused if you child was in there. That's discusting!Enfieldian wrote:

Oh, learn about the correct use of punctuation as well.
