SAS Fire and Security - They Have Been Shut Down

  • Thanks for some of the information on this thread. I discovered recently that my parents had paid out for an alarm system with this company a couple of years ago. Whilst I was aware of the new alarm system being fitted, I had no idea they'd signed up for a 5 year maintenance/monitoring contract for £5k under a loan scheme, which is obviously no longer in existence due to SAS ceasing trading. As money is tight, I suggested they should no longer be paying for a service they simply aren't receiving, and have since found out the whole story (very similar to many cited on here). I have the details of the Official Receiver and it would appear they can claim under S 75. Thanks to those who've reported their experiences on here. Whilst it is likely to be a fairly drawn out process, at least there appears to be some hope for reclaim; certainly for monies paid out once the company ceased trading and future payments being stopped. As my dad only receives a basic state pension, the £90 "saving" a month will be very handy indeed.
  • Bluenose, If you haven't found this information out already, sorry to be the bearer of bad news. 'David Diaz' and 'Ludovic (Vic) Black', are not officially directors of Solar Energy Savings Ltd., however they are very much at the head of the company making all the decisions regarding the company. This I know because until recently I worked for them, I was appalled at their ethics and blatant disregard for prospective clients and their sales people alike and ashamed that I didn't do my homework earlier to find out who I was affiliated with !!

    WHAT is going on?

    Came across this

Are they ALL connected?? The names listed are malnly connected with UK Monitor & Response or SAS Fire & Security. Lots of appointments and terminations Jan 2011, e. g. David Diaz , his brother Ludovic Black

Can anyone shine a light - is it just my suspicious mind ?
  • SAS Fire & Security Ltd - Directors, David Diaz, Ludovic Black and Gary McVey have been successfully prosecuted by LB Hillingdon Trading Standards at Harrow Crown Court. A jury found them guilty on 22nd May 2012 - sentencing to follow later. Case highlighted by the Scottish press; see their report on the Daily Record's web page dated 27th May 2012 ...
  • Hi all

My parents bought this service from SAS about 2 years ago then had a letter from Monitorng & Response Solutions UK telling them that SAS had gone bust but if they paid the £99 as an admin charge they would continue the service. You all know the story by now, I suspect.

I've read that some people have received full or partial refunds because they paid with a card. My parents paid by cheque (they were asked to pay this way) so I'm guessing they won't be able to get any of their money back?

I didn't really know anything about this alarm situation until they'd paid and it was fitted otherwise I would have tried to stop them, frankly. It all sounds extremely dodgy and at their age (both in their 70's) they can ill afford to lose thousands of pounds. Makes you proud to be British, doesn't it!
  • The reality of the case,

I was one of the freelance reporters in this case and like every other human being on the planet that had read the articles and stories wrote about these individuals had formed an opinion and impression of disgust and distaste to match the readers of the newspaper that led the story, little did i know that the said newspaper had tried to cut an advertising deal with the company, after bringing the campaign about sas the company tried to correct all wrongs with a help line but the sunday mail did not care, as a reporter covering this case i have never been so embarrased about my profession as i am now.

    wrongs have been done

but sunday mail you should be ashamed
  • So,
at which office of SAS did you work at?
I am a cow so cannot speak Bullshine but I do recognise its smell when I come upon it.
  • I had an alarm installed by SAS and was fortunate enough to get my money back from CC company. Have sinced signed up with another alarm company for maintenance & monitoting and very happy with them.

The other day I received a phone call and subsequently a letter from a company "Response Security 1 ltd" offering a monitoring and maintenance service. They must have got our address from either SAS or Daitem.

I don't know anything about this new company but wonder if it is another scam?

A freelance reporter would not write. " the articles and stories wrote about these individuals" .
