Graeme,
Most of us appreciate your help on these forums; and are aware that you aren't responsible for company policy!
However your 'Masters' should be made aware that this policy of discriminating against existing customers is disgraceful.
I was on Online Energy Saver 9 that finished on 31/3/11.
I received an email telling me that I would be placed on On Line Energy 9(April 2012)
What it failed to tell me that On line Energy Saver 13 - not available to existing customers - is 8.5% cheaper.
Now I am aware that I could get myself on OLE13 without any problem; but you rely on others who are not aware that a cheaper tariff exists and are stupid/naive enough to think you might treat existing customers fairly.
So on a matter of principle I am leaving SP.
But surely this is Ofgem's* preference. So on a matter of principle you will be abandoning a company for complying with Ofgem's guidance in preference for suppliers who ignore codes and guidelines.
Not that I defend all of Ofgem's decalarations.
(I am referring to the guideline that 'deals' should be limited in time and that standard tariff payers should not perpetually subsidise special offers. If you are a customer on an introductory deal you should not be permitted to switch to a new deal at the end.)
(* or Consumer Focus's. I am not sure which.)0 -

Kim,
Sorry don't understand your points.
My objection was that at the end of my expired tariff,(OLE9) I was informed by email that I was transferred to a new version of OLE9; I also got a letter yesterday saying the same thing.
Both the letter and email are couched in terms that would lead people to believe that this is the best tariff they have, when in fact OLE13 is 8.5% cheaper and available for new customers.
What company am I joining that 'ignores codes and guidelines'?0 -
Hi hawkwind,
It may be that your account is still waiting to be back dated, however if you wish to e-mail me with your account details at onlinecomplaints@scottishpower.com I will check this for you and make sure you are put on to OLE13.
Kind regards
Graeme @ ScottishPower
Thanks Graeme.
I have sent an email as it is still showing as Online Standard (No Standing Charge)0 -
I have had to call Scottish Power today (again) as they failed to change my product as they promised, after my fixed prodict ended on 28th Feb, I was told that due to a backlog it would take two weeks to show on my account and it would be backdated, well that was six weeks ago and surprise, surprise no change.
I think they are hoping that customers will forget all obout oes13 and be left paying the Standard high cost tarrif instead, so be warned, check your account has been updated.
Shame on you Scottish Power.0 -
Just to let you know, in case it helps anyone: I switched to OES13 but still received a postcard telling me I would be moved on to the new OES9 April 2012 tariff. My online account said OES13 by this point. A few days later I received a letter confirming my switch to OES13 with a prices booklet. So take no notice to the postcard if you have already switched to another tariff! Do, however, check your online account to see if the changeover has gone ahead.0

... It says OES13 is "only for new customers" on the comparison sites and a ScottishPower agent confirmed this to me but said it was flexible and HE would had offered it to me...
Which comparison site is that then?
(Sure it wasn't just referring to a cashback offered by the comparison site?)
Nothing in the SP official brochure on OES13 about it being only for new customers. I don't believe it is; I think it's open to all."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -

When I was searching for a better deal OES13 came out 1st place followed by EON on several comparison sites I looked at. That may have changed since I looked on 9th March.
Sorry can't remember which ones... I used a few and then signed up direct with EON.
Cos it said OES13 was only for new customers I didn't ask and it wasn't offered.:( Now I know better.0 -
Thanks Graeme ( scottishpower company representative)
Online Energy Saver 13 is now showing on my account.

I've just recently switched from OES9 to OES13 but with the August increases, I find that in the long term the "capped price energy June 2013 online NSC" will work out much cheaper! the OES13 price increases in August are very similar to the capper June 2013.
is it possible to change tariff (staying with same energy company) and avoid the cancellation charges?0
