Been looking myself, bg websaver 11 is coming up the best, was thinking of going onto a standard tariff (anyone that pays decent cashback) getting cashback and coming back with more cashback.
I contacted Scottish Power and they just offer you the online energy 13 or the one that arrived through email yesterday, they should not be be allowed to call it Online Energy Saver 9 (April 2012) Offer because it is nothing like the original.
I asked Scottish Power if I could start the switching process before April 1st and they said I would still have to pay Charges, I'm not sure how as long as I'm not on the new supplier before April 1st, anyone else experienced this before?0 -
Am I right in thinking that the best way to switch to another supplier is to go through the opt out (of the new saver 9 option) then wait till april and start the switching process?
I have done a comparison and Npower are cheaper for me than both the new saver9 and saver13 offered by SP.0 -

No mine says "You may be charged a cancellation fee if you opt out after 30th April 2011"
I have done it an got this message
"Thank you for confirming that you wish to opt out and move to our standard monthly Direct Debit prices. These default standard monthly Direct Debit prices will be effective on your bill from 1st April 2011, however these details may take up to 14 days to appear on your bill"
I believe I am able to leave now free from penalty from April?0 -
Thank you all for posting your thoughts and questions. I've had the same email and came on here intending to post as I've been worried about what to do next - but I see you've been considering it too!
I haven't done a comparison yet but if, like for many, the Online Energy Saver 13 is the cheapest option, can I just ring up Scottish Power and ask to change to it (and insist if they say it's for new customers only)? And if so, would that incur a penalty if I did it now, say?
And, just in case, Scottish Power representative: can you confirm what we need to do to leave Scottish Power without penalty if we don't agree to the new Online Energy Saver 9 April 2012 offer? Thank you.0 -

This is the opt out form QUOTEI wish to Opt Out of my Online Energy Saver 9 Offer.
By completing and submitting the form below, you are opting out of the ScottishPower Online Energy Saver 9 Offer and requesting to be moved onto our standard monthly Direct Debit prices which are detailed here. Please note that our General Terms and Conditions for domestic customers will apply.
You may be charged a cancellation fee if you opt out after 30th April 2011.
Please read our general Terms & Conditions and then confirm your acceptance of those terms and conditions by checking this box
As it is before the date above SP will be receiving a very nasty phonecall should they even attempt to put any charges on my account!0 -
Thanks for the heads up! I received the same e-mail about energy saver 9 (2012). I have just phoned SP and a very pleasant lady agreed to change me to energy saver 13, with no problems at all.
She told me that it is a cheaper tariff, and although it could be end March before the change is actioned, it will be backdated to today so I will get the benefit of lower rates straight away. I queried if there will be a charge for leaving energysaver 9 early, but she said this only applies if the customer leaves SP.
So all in all, a good job done!

Hi purplestar133 and Whitemonk
You have an option to opt out of the new prices and you can either choose to go onto another tariff that we are offering or go onto the standard tariff from 1st April which will then allow you to change supplier without incurring a cancellation charge. If you make an application to another supplier, the registration of the transfer is processed after about 2 weeks and it would be this date which would confirm whether a cancellation charge is applied to your account. To be on the safe side, I would therefore suggest that you do not request a transfer more than 1 week prior to your expiry date.
Hope this information helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions and I will be happy to help.
Kind Regards
