She told me that it is a cheaper tariff, and although it could be end March before the change is actioned, it will be backdated to today so I will get the benefit of lower rates straight away. I queried if there will be a charge for leaving energysaver 9 early, but she said this only applies if the customer leaves SP.
So all in all, a good job done!
:-)
Done same as above, it took 2 minutes from picking up the phone to hanging up, no quibbles at all. My tariff will automatically switch to ES13 on 1st April when ES9 has expired.0 -
i've successfully managed to get moved onto online energy saver 13 w.e.f. 1st april also, although i took the route of emailing them via their website and got a reply within 24 hours :money:0

Be aware that if you are on the Scottish Power Online Energy Saver 9 Tariff that the pricing comparison sites are inaccurate come 1st April 2011 so you should not base your decision to stay with this tariff on the data from the websites at the moment.
Try the following:
Work out your consumption based on current tariff.
Go to Scottish Power website and see what you'd pay on the Online Energy Saver 13 Tariff, which is cheaper than new pricing for Online Energy Saver 9 come April. i.e you'll pay more than this come April if you do nothing.
If you then use one of the comparison websites you will see there is a dramatic difference in price.
For example, my usage gives a total of £1200/yr currently.
According to Online Saver 13 price would be approx £1350/yr.
Comparison websites say cheapest other tariff based on that usage would be approx £1250. However, these same sites say it's not worth switching as my current tariff is £1200!
So, to reiterate do not base your decision on the prices shown today on comparison websites.0 -

Be aware that posting the same comment more than once on MSE is considered spamming

Is it known for power companies to do duel fuel retention deals..for instance, i am on SP9 and have had the aforementioned email. Fortunately i have found this thread but using a comparison site, it shows EON marginally cheaper but also a Quidco payment of £50 for switching to Eon. I wonder if SP are likely to pay me either their Quidco new customer payment of £50 to stay with them..anyone tried it?Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

Have a look on our website and get the unit rates for our Online Energy Saver 13 tariff and compare these against the OLE9 tariff you are being offered. See link below for the OLE13 unit rates:

I was a long-term ScottishPower customer, until I contacted your Customer Services to ask to transfer to the "Online Energy Saver 13 Dual Fuel" tariff - my deal was also ending - and I couldn't see how to get this specific deal via the online servicing.
The reply I received stated that "The Online Energy Saver 13 is only offered to our new customers."
So now I am a new customer, of British Gas.0 -
I'm sorry you feel that providing people with useful information in more than one place is spamming.
Could you perhaps provide a link to where it says on MSE that posting the same message twice is spamming as I was not aware it was?
Thanks
Lets all take a chill pill...... and please get back to the topic
Excellent replies so far :T0 -

Hi
I was with Scottish Power and as far as I was aware my contract expired November/December 2010.
After doing a check on the comparison sites I found I was not on the most economical tariff with them and switched to another supplier.
I have just received my final bills and have been charged a termination fee of £30 for Electricity and £20 for gas.
Reading the previous posts I can only assume I have missed an email from Scottish Power offering me the option to opt out!
I have emailed Scottish Power, but they have not replied.
As I am currently unemployed and looking for work I can ill afford these charges.
Has anyone else had a similar experience?
Can Scottish Power transfer me to another contract without me opting in?
